The Myth of 'peaceful' transition, unless you're black and not ANC

For most of his adult life, Nelson Mandela was a failed communist revolutionary and leftist icon. Then in his seventies he had the chance to govern. He chose reconciliation over reprisal, a rare example of a wise Marxist



Nelson Mandela sings a song about killing of Whites, in typical fashion afterwards talks of love and democracy.

 UPDATE: Charles Crawford on The Commentator has a powerful observation about the racist myth of so-called 'peaceful' transition in South Africa after Apartheid. Unless you were black that is, and not a friend of Mandela's ANC.

On the other hand Crawford is categorizing the Darwinian progressive movement under the Enlightenment, whereas abolisionism apparently is not. Asked for a clarification the author offered the following:
Plessy v. Ferguson (1896) is dating back to the progressive era and the early Socialist movement and has nothing to do with the Enlightenment. The source of racism is group subjective theories that grew out of Darwinism. The source of eugenics for example was a cousin of Charles Darwin, Francis Galton. Racism needs a mind that thinks in terms of social and/or ethnic determinism. The Enlightenment thinkers were individualists who believed in personal achievement.


(...) the world sees South Africa as a ‘peaceful’ transition only because not many pale-skinned people were killed. The fact that tens of thousands of dark-skinned people died in a disgusting civil war between Mandela’s African National Congress plus its Communist Party ally with every other African political tendency across the political spectrum is too ghastly to contemplate. So we don’t contemplate it. 
Much more important - because it is true - is that Mandela came to symbolise a powerful idea that took hold round the planet: that categorising people by race is morally and politically unacceptable. This concept of ‘racism’ had deep roots stretching right back into the highest ideals of European thought and the Enlightenment. It turned on what were then seen as high scientific and intellectual principles: that differences in human beings, like differences between insects and plants, can be precisely measured, and that consequences of these differences can and should be taken into account in devising political outcomes. Mandela began as a terrorist and never turned his back on monsters like Arafat and Castro, whom he considered brothers in arms. When he was released from prison by de Klerk, he showed unexpected statesmanship, counseling reconciliation rather than revenge, no small achievement in a country in which the “liberation” movement (led by Mandela’s wife and party) placed oil filled inner tubes around the necks of former comrades and set them on fire.

But if a leader should be judged by his works, the country Mandela left behind is an indictment of his political career, not an achievement worthy of praise – let alone the unhinged adoration he is currently receiving across the political spectrum.

South Africa today is the murder capital of the world, a nation where a woman is raped every 30 seconds, often by AIDs carriers who go unpunished, and where whites are anything but the citizens of a democratic country which honors the principles of equality and freedom.

Liberated South Africa is one of those epic messes the Left created and promptly forgot about.

Black supremacist Ta-Nehisi Coates is leading the chorus of attacks on "racist" Cold War conservatives who questioned the anti-apartheid movement in the 1980s. See, "Apartheid's Useful Idiots." You have to read the whole thing, but literally the bottom line is that to raise any questions about Mandela's legacy, regardless of the historical context, and most importantly, regardless of Mandela's terrorism and Communism, and you're a racist.

Coates argues that "the overall failure of American conservatives to forthrightly deal with South Africa's white-supremacist regime, coming so soon after their failure to deal with the white-supremacist regime in their own country, is part of their heritage, and thus part of our heritage." Almost as instantly as the news broke that Nelson Mandela had died, the cable news networks – including Fox News – all kicked into high gear, paying incessant tribute to the deceased Communist hero.
