Twenty-five years ago the symbol of totalitarian altruism - the Berlin Wall, officially referred to as the "Anti-Fascist Protection Rampart" - fell. The peoples in the countries behind it - in Russia's buffers and satellite states - stood up against the raw power that had suppressed their morality for over 40 years. But the revolt was sparked by the stupid mistake of an apparatchik.
Film reveals the brutal life and chaotic death of the Berlin Wall, the central symbol of Communism.
The film begins with the history of the conflict and technology that built the wall, and moves to the escape attempts and true-life espionage tales associated with it.
We learn about a blunder that ended the Cold War and the ultimate demise of the USSR. This fast moving documentary covers all the major events in an accessible and exciting fashion. In addition to insider reports and rare footage, this documentary features interviews with major players, including Mikhail Gorbachev and George H.W. Bush.
