Terror at the offices of the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo. Two brothers, Said and Cherif Kouachi now killed, 26 yod hostage freed from a print shop near Charles de Gaulle airport. At a Jewish grocery in the east of Paris, 4 hostages as well as terrorist Amedy Coulibaly have been killed. Some confusion over the whereabouts of Hayat Boumediene.

THE STENCH OF HYPOCRISY IS THICK IN THE AIR

The world is wallowing in hypocrisy. The stench is overwhelming. And it is going to be worse tomorrow! A few people close to Charlie Hebdo can't take it any more. Among them, a Dutch cartoonist working for CH who hates editorial meetings, and Jeannette Bougrab the wife of Charlie Hebdo’s editor-in-chief Stéphane 'Charb' Charbonnier. Bougrab, a junior minister in the previous government and a member of the center-right UMP party, said she was speaking as "a French woman of Arab origin" when she said there was no such thing as moderate Islam.
"The same people who are now yelling "Je Suis Charlie" called my husband an Islamophobe and a racist only a few weeks back!"
A prominent Dutch cartoonist at Charlie Hebdo heaped scorn on the French satirical weekly’s “new friends” since the massacre at its Paris offices on Wednesday. “We have a lot of new friends, like the pope, Queen Elizabeth and (Russian President Vladimir) Putin. It really makes me laugh,” Bernard Holtrop, whose pen name is Willem, told the Dutch centre-left daily Volkskrant in an interview published today. France’s far-right National Front leader “Marine Le Pen is delighted when the Islamists start shooting all over the place,” said Willem, 73, a long-time Paris resident who also draws for the French leftist daily Liberation. He added: “We vomit on all these people who suddenly say they are our friends.” (Source)

To the Left everything is politics! They are hijacking #CharlieHebdo and turn it into a crusade against the Right wing party, Front National who currently represent some 30% of the vote. That's the Leftist approach to democracy and 'unity' for you. But of course FN are fascist racist haters, so that's OK. One particularly vicious message is a plea to Muslims not to engage in any more terror attacks, because this "might bring the Right to power". Muslims are also doing their part to whip up the hatred, mostly their own.

Jihad is war, not crime


The situation in Paris shows the futility of "curing" Islamic terrorists with prison sentences. Jihadism isn't crime, it's war. It proves how right the Bush administration was to just remove terrorists from the battle field, interning them in Guantanamo Bay. Enemy combatants must be removed from the battle field. So you don't jail them for 2 years, then release them on to the public, as was clearly the case with one of the Kouachi brothers. The brothers have been on the radar of the authorities for years! This is taking unnecessary risks. This is not unethical. POW are taken in every war, for the duration of the war! It's unethical to take unnecessary risks with the lives of innocent civilians if it is your duty to protect them.

The current crop of politicians is so detached from reality and the electorate that the famous quote from Marie Antoinette springs to mind. Her words were followed by a cataclysmic event of fundamental change, the French Revolution. Another fear on the part of the left is a backlash against Muslims, but that's rather understated till now. Anxiety if our civilization will survive, or even Liberty, is not on the program. ChéRIF KOUACHI RECRUITED FOR ISIS PRECURSOR

Some details are emerging about the Jihadist connections of one of the brothers, Chérif Kouachi. He served time in a French prison on a terrorism charge for his ties to an al-Qaeda-linked jihadist group. A Paris court in 2008 convicted Kouachi, then 26, for criminal association with a "terrorist enterprise." He was sentenced to three years in prison with 18 months suspended. Kouachi and his brother are French citizens, born in Paris to parents of Algerian descent. Mourad's citizenship is unclear, but French news organizations reported that he attended a school near Reims. Later he met Farid Benyettou, a street preacher associated with Salafism, who recruited young men for the "19th Arrondissement Network," which wanted to send them to fight for al-Qaeda in Iraq, the ISIS precursor. Benyettou was convicted on terrorism charges and sentenced to six years in prison. Prosecutors said the network recruited, trained and sent at least 12 men to fight in Iraq for the insurgency. Police had arrested Kouachi days before he planned to leave for Iraq via Syria. We'll like learn soon what he's been up to recently.



POLITICAL ISLAM ISN'T MARGINAL IN EUROPE

This may be a good time to see where this attitude towards Islam comes from. Appeasers are moral relativists who have become blind for evil. Enablers have accepted the morality of the enemy. And then there's the fifth column, the enemy within. In Islam the morality of the collective is prevailing. Which is only natural in a cult in which the price of disloyalty may be death. But what about Muslims themselves. Political Islam is not a marginal phenomenon in Europe. Ruud Koopmans from the WZB Berlin Social Science Center analyzed data from a representative survey among immigrants and natives in six European countries. Two thirds of the Muslims interviewed say that religious rules are more important to them than the laws of the country in which they live. MUCH SPECULATION ABOUT TERRORISTS' ALIGNMENT

Speculations abound about the alignments of the terrorists. They may have passed through Jihadist training camps. One was convicted for recruiting fighters for Iraq. Yet their preparations were certainly wanting: initially they didn't even know where the offices were. (Source) In an article on Al Arabiya (source) we see a convenient coping device which is often used both in Muslim world, and by their enablers in the West (tweet) (tweet). Certainly, one of the terrorists may have said they are aligned with Al Qaeda in Yemen (AQAP). Maybe they are. But Al Qaeda -- as is now ISIS -- it a very safe container tag to quarantine anything that doesn't fit the "Islam is Peace" narrative. AQ and IS are now standard accepted by them as "nothing to do with Islam." We should certainly account for that phenomenon.



MUSLIM LEADERS DENY ISLAMIC SOURCE

In the world of Islam the denial continues. In the overwhelming majority of comments the victim is blamed for insulting the Prophet. Iran is coming out with their usual approach of moral relativism.
Leaders from Muslim countries and organizations joined the worldwide condemnation of deadly attack on Charlie Hebdo magazine office in Paris, and said it shouldn’t be associated with the Islamic faith. “It looks on face value to be case of Islam against the western world, but what we are seeing is a battle going on within the Muslim world,” Greg Barton, acting director of Monash University’s Centre for Islam and the Modern World in Melbourne, said in an interview with Bloomberg Television. “It is striking that even Tehran says ‘this is not what Islam does.’” The following is a roundup of some of the reactions (source)

Terror at the offices of the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo. An Islamic terror attack left 12 people dead including 2 police officers, and at least 10 injured. Two brothers, Said and Cherif Kouachi are still at large; Hamyd Mourad has handed himself in.

TERRORISTS ROBBED PETROL STATION

The terrorists robbed a petrol station in northern France and then took off in a car packed with weapons, according to reporters on the scene in northern France. According to the manager of the service station on the RN2 road the men had Kalashnikovs and rocket-propelled grenade launchers and drove off in the same car witnesses described as being hijacked on Wednesday. The manager reportedly told police that the men had headed back towards Paris. It was also claimed that the suspects stole food and petrol from the service station, which was later sealed off by police while armed officers patrolled nearby and helicopters hovered overhead.

Germany is a pleasant surprise; the media made of moral fibre are few and far between; the rest bows its head citing a number of silly rationalizations, all immaterial, because only one thing counts: modernity is lost without the freedom to confront and critique ideas, especially those based on faith.

WE NEED A NEW STRATEGY TO COMBAT ISLAMIC TERRORISM

The politicians now coming out in defense of the freedom of speech have openly condemned the magazine's "silly provocations of Islam" in the past. This is hypocrisy at its worst. Remember this?



Podcast dating back to September 19, 2012 just after the outrage about the Mohammed video that was blamed for the 9/11 attack on the CIA annex in Benghazi. (Source) You reap what you sow!

Something will have to give here. They can't continue to having their cake and eat it too. This outrage today is the result of a concious doctrine, a lie that has been pursued now for over 25 years.  (Source) We have the Islamic State and a string of violent deaths to show for it, proving the error of the tactic. Tell your political representatives now: enough is enough! We need a new strategy to combat Islamic terrorism.

The attitude of the mainstream media can be summed up in this Dutch cartoon, titled "Immortal". In other words, were those "silly provocations" really worth dying for? Morality on its head. Despicable! Note: Apparently we are to understand that it is the freedom of expression that is immortal. Hebdo is spiting his murderer after he has beheaded him. Reminiscent of "cutting off the nose to spite the face" (wiki). The stage is being set in the MSM for the frame that the magazine had this coming for satirizing Islam.

LIBERATION (UNCONFIRMED): THREE SUSPECTS IN CUSTODY

One of terrorists, Sherif Kouachi, is well know to the police. He was convicted in 2005 for recruiting Jihadists for Iraq and was sentenced to 3 years, of which 18 months suspended.

When foreign governments, religious leaders and their faithful followers threaten and murder individuals for daring to speak, anyone who values his own life and freedom must stand with, and speak for, the victims. We call on everyone to post and publicize the content that these totalitarians do not want us to see, as we are doing here. It does not matter whether you agree or disagree with the particular book, cartoon or movie that they seek to silence. We must defend our unconditional right to freedom of thought and freedom of speech. The totalitarians are counting on self-censorship: that their threats and attacks will leave most of us too scared to speak out and criticize their doctrines. They then have a chance of killing the few individuals brave enough to defy them. We must end any hope that this strategy will prove effective.

In the wake of the attacks on Sony, many people rightly observed that if T The Interview were put up on the Internet and made widely available, the attackers’ goal of silencing the filmmaker would be unachieved. The same goes for criticism and satire of Islamic doctrine. If we now all defiantly make the content and images the jihadists wish to ban widely and permanently available across the web, the attackers will have failed. They may have taken the lives of the editor and cartoonists of Charlie Hebdo, for which we grieve, but they will not have taken their freedom. The alternative is to cower and stick our heads in the sand in hope that the issue goes away. But this will not end the threat. It will only make our freedom disappear.
