Danish Muslims In Solidarity With Copenhagen Jews
The imam at the capital’s Danish Islamic Center, Baig, 39, has on numerous occasions sat under the structure’s gold-and-white ceiling meeting with people he calls his “Jewish brethren” to discuss issues of common concern. On Monday, Baig was back at the synagogue to express solidarity with the Jewish community following the slaying of a Jewish volunteer guard by a Muslim extremist outside the building early Sunday morning. But this time, Baig was not alone. He was part of a march by tens of thousands of Danes, including countless Muslims, who were shocked by an attack seen as underscoring the growing threat of anti-Semitic violence in the region.

SYNAGOGUE REQUESTED MORE SECURITY IN JANUARY
The attack on the synagogue doesn't come as a surprise. In January the Jewish community requested help from the Government to step up security. The Minister of Justice promised an investigation. The synagogue privately deployed extra guards. It was one of them (30) that was killed in the attack last night. Due to the shooting at the free speech event earlier in the day, the guards at the synagogue were on high alert, but couldn't prevent the assault.

Several people have been injured after shots were fired near a synagogue in Copenhagen, Danish police say. One person was reportedly hit in the head, and two police officers had arm and leg injuries. The attacker is believed to have fled. It is not clear whether the shooting is connected to an earlier attack on a cafe in the city.
