FARAGE COMPARES EU TO SOVIET UNION

In a speech in the Strasbourg Parliament Nigel Farage, leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) today compared the EU with the USSR. On the surface this comparison may appear to be far-fetched. State Capitalism 'works' (upto a point), while Communism does not. But in many other respects the two institutions are not that far apart.

Oct 27, 2015 European Parliament Strasbourg, Nigel Farage: "The Modern-Day Implementation of the Brezhnev Doctrine".

The Brezhnev Doctrine states, that when forces that are hostile to Socialism try to turn the development of a Socialist country towards Capitalism, it becomes a common concern of all Socialist countries. This doctrine retroactively justified the invasion of Czechoslovakia in August 1968 and Hungary in 1956. (Wiki) Communism was an economic system -- the 'social ownership' of the means of production -- and it didn't work. The economic system of the European Union is known as the third way, the Rhineland model, or the mixed economy, a middle of the road mix of Capitalism and Socialism. It's a compromise between two systems that are at core incompatible. In the Capitalist system the Government is the hand maiden of Liberty. In Communism the economy is the servant of the State. The Chinese also devised a third way. It's called State Capitalism. And that is increasingly also the EU's economic system.

The EU is a statist project. The EU is not in the service of Liberty, the People or any other universal value, but of itself as the ultimate Super State! Increasingly every aspect touched by the EU is in the service of that goal! Not just the currency, the euro; not just the economy, but everything else is harnessed in the service of the EU project.

Like the USSR,  the EU has become a moral goal in itself. And as such the Brezhnev Doctrine is indeed applicable to the EU. If the electorate of a member state, like France and the Netherlands, like Greece, like Italy, like Ireland or now Portugal happens to turn hostile towards the interests of the project (or by extension the common currency) it becomes not only a problem of the country concerned, but becomes a common EU problem.

This could easily have been avoided. The Lisbon Treaty provided the opportunity to foot the European Union on the universal value of Liberty. Instead the leaders persisted on their statist course. The currency, the economy, the politicians and the law makers, every EU institution is in the service of the highest moral value, the institution of the European Union.

More demands will be made, until every aspect of our lives will be in the service of the project as the EU becomes the totalitarian monster state that is the inevitable end result of its ideology.

The EU is increasingly turning against the People All those that seek Liberty or protest against the EU's totalitarian State Capitalist goals, will become the enemy. Already forces that are hostile against the project are demonized as populists, neo Nazis and worse. Far fetched? Try this.
An Italian lawmaker has been sanctioned in the European Parliament for wearing a T-shirt that had an image of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Adolf Hitler. Gianluca Buonanno also wore a Hitler-style moustache and gave a Nazi salute during a debate while Merkel was present. He has been fined 3,060 euros ($3,378), and he has been suspended from parliament activities for 10 days. (Source
The Polish deputy Janusz Korwin-Mikke received the same sanction for using a Nazi salute in the assembly in July. These MPs weren't sanctioned for Nazi sympathies! But rather the opposite. They lampooned the EU's totalitarian, Nazi style tendencies.

Now this goes to the core of Enlightenment principles: to criticize those in authority. If even the People's Representatives are no longer able to ridicule and question the authority of EU's rulers, imagine what the future of the People will be on this continent.

The migration crisis is very instructive in that regard. European leaders, led by the German Chancellor Merkel, have flooded the continent with over 700,000 mostly Islamic tribesmen, whose state of social and individual development hasn't yet outgrown the agricultural stage. But that's another story altogether.
