DUTCH PM ARGUES WHY EU DEMOCRACY CAN'T WORK

The Dutch triggered a referendum to reject the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement (wiki) following  a petition organized by the Right wing Democrat website GeenStijl.NL. It was held on April 6. George Soros funded a Liberal Conservative publisher to combat the grassroots initiative. The treaty with Ukraine was rejected by 64% of the vote. 

UPDATE: Unbeknownst Dutch PM Mark Rutte is making the argument why democracy at the supra national level can't work. The voters of one country can hold all other member states hostage. No country is free to set its own course. No one should want this kind of interdependence. We should get out of this euro tyranny now.

CRIMINAL COMPLAINTS AGAINST DUTCH GOVT


The Lower House voted in favor of a motion that allows the Dutch Government to deal with the rejection of the EU association treaty with Ukraine, until the end of June, after the #Brexit referendum on June 23 and #EUNL16 on June 30. This is against the law. Individual citizens have now started filing criminal complaints. One the organizers of the referendum, Thierry Baudet of the Forum for Democracy has started crowdfunding for legal procedures against the lawless Government.
The Dutch parliament has rejected a motion calling on the government to immediately withdraw a law ratifying the EU-Ukraine association agreement – a deal which was rejected by 61 percent of Dutch voters in a non-binding referendum earlier this month. Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s ruling party narrowly defeated a motion brought by the opposition Socialist Party, which called for overturning a law approving the controversial association agreement between the EU and Ukraine. Seventy-five lawmakers voted against the Socialists’ initiative, with 71 in favor. To secure the tiny majority, the government gained the support of independent MPs Roland van Vliet and Johan Stonemasons, De Telegraaf newspaper reported.

BRUSSELS BANS DUTCH REFERENDUM TILL #BREXIT


Brussels has effectively banned Dutch MPs from discussing their country's historic referendum result because it is exposing the EU's undemocratic core and boosting calls for a Brexit. Geert Wilders MP today requested the Parliamentary board to investigate the PM for dereliction of duty.
The European elite have gagged elected politicians in the Netherlands, ordering them to suppress the Dutch people's democratic voice until after our own referendum is done and dusted on June 23. In an astonishing statement delivered to the Dutch parliament this week Prime Minister Mark Rutte admitted he had been ordered by other EU leaders not to mention the referendum for the next two months. He also blocked any decision from being taken on the future of the EU's expansionist deal with Ukraine, which Dutch voters overwhelmingly rejected in last week's historic referendum. The entire opposition movement had demanded a law ratifying the treaty in the Netherlands be immediately withdrawn, arguing the "people have spoken". Dutch voters crushed the pro-Brussels 'Voor' movement last Thursday, with nearly two-thirds voting against the Ukraine deal. (...)  (Source)

EUROCRATS OPEN DOOR TO UKRAINE DESPITE DUTCH REFERENDUM


Europe's elite tonight dropped all pretence of respecting democracy by plotting to grant visa-free travel to 45 million Ukrainians in direct defiance of the Dutch referendum result. Brussels bureaucrats have strongly indicated they will simply ride roughshod over the voice of an entire nation in their grasping bid to secure further power in Eastern Europe. Two-thirds of the Dutch people rejected a controversial EU land grab plot in a landmark referendum last week, which only took place because of a people's revolt against the European elite. But tonight it emerged that they have been betrayed by both their own Government and mandarins in Brussels, who are ploughing on with the Ukraine deal regardless. (...) The prospect of 45 million Ukrainians being granted visa-free access to the Schengen free movement zone - of which the Netherlands is a part - was one of the key reasons voters blocked the deal. A Juncker spokesperson said: "It may look as if we're ignoring the Dutch voters, but we have to keep our word to Ukraine, which has met the conditions." In the Dutch version of the comments a sentence is added that "free movement has already been agreed with Ukraine in earlier negotiations".

The confirmation comes after European leaders including Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande indicated within hours of the Dutch result being announced that Brussels was likely to simply ignore it. Yesterday Prime Minister Mark Rutte told Ukrainian leader Petro Poroshenko that he will champion the "granting of a visa free travel regime" against the overwhelming wishes of his people. The conversation, reported by the Interfax news agency, is an astonishing volte face from a politician who just four days ago said crushing defeat in the referendum meant the EU treaty now "cannot go ahead".

DUTCH REFERENDUM: 64% REJECT EU UKRAINE AGREEMENT


The Dutch vote against an agreement to strengthen ties between the European Union and Ukraine could lead to lengthy negotiations over changes in the pact, the Netherlands' premier said. "It could be months before a solution will be found," since many different parties are involved, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte told the Dutch news agency ANP on April 8. "It's a complex process. It's uncharted waters," he later told a press conference at the Hague.

UK Independence Party (UKIP) leader Nigel Farage is in the Netherlands today to help the country’s Eurosceptics campaign in a referendum on the European Union scheduled for Wednesday. The referendum, which isn’t about EU membership, but rather, an EU ‘association agreement’ with Ukraine, is being treated as a harbinger for how the British referendum result may end up if the ‘Out’ or ‘Leave’ campaigns manage to capitalise on the rising eurosceptic sentiment across Europe. The referendum is only the second in the country’s recent history, and will ask members of the Dutch public if they support the EU’s 2014 association agreement with Ukraine – a document widely believed by eurosceptics to have provoked Russian action against EU expansionism. It is thought that he will intentionally avoid campaigning with the Party for Freedom led by anti-Islamisation firebrand Geert Wilders. The Wikileaks disclosure of the Panama Papers last night that implicate the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko in corruption, couldn't have come at a worse time for the Yes camp in the referendum. The widespread corruption in the country is of course well known to the Dutch Government as well as the EU. Nevertheless, they pushed the association agreement with vigor. The case could be made that they are accessories to crime. In fact, the perception that is presenting itself here, is that governing elites are helping other governing elites robbing the tax payer.

LEAKED: DUTCH GOVT STRATEGY ON EU-UKRAINE REFERENDUM


Dutch cabinet ministers should tell voters that an EU-Ukraine deal is good for trade but they should not talk about conflict with Russia, according to the Dutch government’s referendum strategy, which was leaked to the broadcaster RTL. A 12-page document, made public Thursday, lists a number of questions people might have about an association agreement between the EU and Ukraine that the Dutch will vote on on April 6. It urges ministers to tell Dutch voters that the agreement will benefit trade and “ordinary Ukrainians.” “The referendum is not about a conflict with Russia and Putin,” it says, adding: “Do not take this vote as an opportunity to talk about discontent with the EU.” The document also shows that the government expects a positive outcome, but can’t rule out a No vote. “With a valid No [if the turnout is more than 30 percent] the cabinet will think about the steps it will take and discuss this with parliament.” The text also refers to global reaction to the vote, saying “there will be more international attention for the Netherlands.” Prime Minister Mark Rutte responded to the leak on Thursday before the European Council in Brussels. “Nothing stays secret,” he said, adding that “the association agreement is important, since the Netherlands is a trade nation.” The referendum campaign officially started last month. Opinion polls suggest a slight lead for the No campaign.

Finance errors hamper Dutch vote on EU-Ukraine deal 

A Dutch referendum on an EU deal with Ukraine faces administrative problems after it was revealed that half of the requests for campaign financing were filed incorrectly. A pot of €2 million of taxpayers’ money is available for the campaign ahead of an April 6 vote on the EU-Ukraine association agreement — €700,000 for the ‘Yes’ side, €700,000 for the ‘No’ side, and €600,000 for neutral campaigns. But according to the broadcaster NOS, almost half of the 170 requests for cash had “technical faults,” such as missing signatures. (Source)
