UPDATE: Yesterday, the commemoration of 9/11 provided White House watchers with confirmation that the President has now been separated from the original national populist aides we have come to know from the campaign. Stephen Miller must still be there somewhere as a speech writer, but evidently he is being overruled by deep state operatives like McMaster and loyal, but naïve establishment figures like General Kelly.

On the sixteenth anniversary of the September 11, 2001, Islamic terrorist attacks, President Donald Trump did not once mention the terms “radical Islam” or “Islamic terrorism” during a commemoration ceremony at the Pentagon. Those phrases were also not mentioned in speeches today by other Trump administration senior officials, including Vice President Mike Pence, Defense Secretary James Mattis, and Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Instead of naming the enemy, Trump seemingly went out of his way to use other descriptors in his speech, including “terrorists who attacked us,” “barbaric forces of evil and destruction,” “horrible, horrible enemies,” “enemies of all civilized people,” and “enemies like we’ve never seen before.” (More)

Trump told her "my people didn't want me to use that word, but I did it anyway". This confirms that the followers of the 25 year old lie -- that if we pretend that terrorism has nothing to do with Islam we may win them for our cause -- are once again in charge. It is now incumbent upon the President to show his will power and draw the line, so that we know he is still his own man! That he "did it anyway" suggests that he is. In Trump we trust.

TRUMP MASTER STROKE ENDS DEMOCRAT RESIST FRONT


Taking Mitch and Ryan to the woodshed; signaling to the establishment RINOs that they're good for nothing traitors; forcing the GOP to unite; making sure there's bipartisan support for the hurricanes relief effort; we'd like to add our own two cents' worth to the various perspectives: in one master stroke Trump broke the Democrat Resist front.

President Donald Trump baffled Republican leadership on Wednesday when he spurned their proposals for raising the debt ceiling and instead decided to make a deal with Democratic leadership. But while most Capitol Hill Republicans and conservative commentators and pundits were highly critical of the deal, a number of prominent pro-Trump media figures sided with Trump and blasted Republican leadership over the deal. Trump sided with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi in a deal that tacked on a three-month suspension of the federal debt ceiling to a bill that would also include money for Hurricane Harvey relief. The deal earned scorn from Republican leaders on Capitol Hill, who were angling for a suspension of six or 18 months for the debt ceiling. (More)
