The FBI raided the offices, home and hotel rooms of President Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen. Speculation what provoked such an aggressive and unorthodox measure ranges from fake news to the utter trivial. We know it had nothing to with the Russia probe. Michael Cohen severed his connection with Trump over a year ago. It has nothing to do with Trump or even lawyer-client privilege.
May 4. 2018 Chris Wallace: "The documents indicated that, in fact, the President Trump had reimbursed Michael Cohen for the payment to Stormy Daniels."
UPDATE: Fox News' Chris Wallace just broke what's up with Rudy Giuliani bringing up the stunner that the President has reimbursed his lawyer for the Stormy Daniels payment. The evidence was scooped up in the raid and is bound to come out sooner or later. Tactically it is far better to control the message now, than having to do damage limitation when the truth is revealed. It was a controlled revelation. But, it is irrelevant to the case! As a former chairman of the FEC explained yesterday in Laura Ingraham's program (video), there is no question that this is a private expense. Campaign expenses are only deemed campaign expenses if they would not have been made privately. These would! Avenatti can be pound sand. And then there is the small matter of NBC's fake news. Exposing wire taps is illegal anyway.

Thanks to the tweeps willing to sort out the intricacies the media are just too lazy to do, we now know that Michael Cohen left the Trump organization over a year ago and got involved with an international lobbying firm. Cohen has been the subject of surveillance through 2017. But not for any ties to Trump but for work he's doing for Obama's people, via Sater & Deripaska.

Hmm. So here's what Avenatti said after NBC's initial Cohen wiretap report but before its MASSIVE correction. @dailycaller https://t.co/Yqs4l0uRNZ pic.twitter.com/HK6rkWEL3B— Chuck Ross (@ChuckRossDC) May 3, 2018
The obsession to prove collusion has dampened the media's journalistic abilities, leading to a seemingly endless list of corrections, retraction, and apologies. Here's a list of some of the worst media screwups when it comes to Russia. https://t.co/ifHewdMI3w— Nick Short ๐บ๐ธ (@PoliticalShort) May 4, 2018
Let’s cut through the crap cake- @FBI LEGALLY couldn’t listen 2 #Cohen calls-which means they unequivocally DID listen- but they can’t legally use anything they heard 2 bring charges-so now they’re trying 2 figure out a legal means by which they can claim 2 know what they know https://t.co/1FcTVjU9kR— DrConservaMom๐บ๐ธ๐ธ๐ (@ConservaMomUSA) May 3, 2018

(THREADS) THE TRUTH ABOUT THE MICHAEL COHEN CASE
๐ (1) The curious case of #MichaelCohen as we know he had documents seized but there’s more to the story and as @_VachelLindsay_ @tracybeanz @Nick_Falco pointed out, it’s always good to wait. Cohen’s Attorney claimed attorney client privilege but there’s more to it. pic.twitter.com/il1OwL8qnB— Rosie Trump (@almostjingo) April 14, 2018

(6) Here is where it gets interesting, Khuzami fired off a 20 page response today that has a lot of information. Cohen isn’t being investigated for anything he did as an attorney, he’s being investigated for personal dealings.. pic.twitter.com/n7h3uLH0yv

1. Squire Patton Boggs is the global law firm that cut a deal with Michael Cohen in April 2017. They are expanding across the world and investing heavily, to do so. https://t.co/pytpzF9c9w— Vachel Lindsay (@_VachelLindsay_) April 18, 2018
8. We know that Cohen has been the subject of surveillance through 2017. But not for any ties to Trump (he had no dealings with him in 2017). It's almost certainly tied to work he's doing for Obama's people, via Sater & Deripaska:https://t.co/e4uYDOnCbw— Vachel Lindsay (@_VachelLindsay_) April 18, 2018
9. It may be linked to a sting operation on Trump involving Stormy Daniels. Her lawyer is a Democratic Party hack & there's a talk Cohen billed Trump for a payment made under a NDA. I ned to look at this more closely.— Vachel Lindsay (@_VachelLindsay_) April 18, 2018
10. But almost certainly Mueller & DOJ are exploring who Cohen is representing in his lobbying efforts - it's not a huge leap that there is a Russian /Ukrainian connection, given Cohen's extensive connections there.— Vachel Lindsay (@_VachelLindsay_) April 18, 2018
12. Trump has known the entire time. And Cohen's old boss just happens to be POTUS.#MAGA— Vachel Lindsay (@_VachelLindsay_) April 18, 2018

The Failing New York Times wrote another phony story. It was political pundit Doug Schoen, not a Ukrainian businessman, who asked me to do a short speech by phone (Skype), hosted by Doug, in Ukraine. Complete nonsense. Bank fraud requires you lie to the bank to defraud the bank. Campaign fraud requires you lie about a campaign expense (what Hillary did with Perkins Coie re" Steele dossier & FusionGPS.) Cohen did neither.
