The EU is preparing a law on the basis of a ruling by the European Court dating back to 2012, mandating the central registration of plant seeds. Under the new law, it will immediately be illegal to grow, reproduce or trade any vegetable seed or tree that has not been tested and approved by a new "EU Plant Variety Agency, who will make a list of approved plants.
Moreover, an annual fee must also be paid to the Agency to keep them on the list, and if not paid, they cannot be grown.
In the past home gardeners and small scale farmers were excluded from complying with this law, but that is now about to change. Corporatist BIG SEED led by EVIL Monsanto is lobbying the EU to oligopolize the market, no problem for the EU who <3 anything fascistic.
