#COPENHAGEN ATTACKS DIDN'T HAPPEN IN A VACUUM

A shooting took place at a free speech event in Copenhagen. One civilian was confirmed killed and 3 police officers wounded. Around 40 shots were fired. Cartoonist Lars Vilks was evacuated by security services and may have been the target. Hours later a synagogue was under attack. (Source)

UPDATE: In the light of the double attack in Copenhagen, a carbon copy of the program followed in Paris, links to past stories are circulating making the puzzle fall into place. Indeed, terrorist attacks don't happen in a vacuum and are the result of years of policies leading to a culmination that is costing people's lives which might have been saved if political leaders did what they're hired to do: the protection of the realm. CHARLIEHEBDO COLUMNIST: "WE'RE ALL DANISH TONIGHT"

Oh NOES! A columnist for French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo has condemned the terror attack in Copenhagen that targeted a debate on Islam and free speech, saying: "We are all Danish tonight". "They targeted an artist and also France," columnist Patrick Pelloux told AFP. "We must fight fascism at all costs. We are all Danish tonight."

COUNCIL OF EUROPE 'UNITED FOR FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS' 

The Council of Europe Secretary ‎General Jagland made the following statement on Copenhagen shooting today:
"Our thoughts go out tonight to Denmark and the victims of this horrific attack. The shooting in Copenhagen so shortly after the Paris Charlie Hebdo massacre is another sign that freedom of expression is under threat across Europe. "We stand united against threats to our fundamental rights. Human rights is fundamental to protecting our security."
But...


TERROR ATTACK CARRIED OUT BY "LONE WOLF"

... and here goes: "The attack is thought to have been carried out by a lone wolf gunman, who remains on the run after fleeing the scene in a car. (Source) So now we know: an incident, unrelated to all other incidents, carried out by a single self igniter.

Freedom is never free.

ORGANIZER OF COPENHAGEN EVENT DESCRIBES TERROR ORDEAL

Agnieszka Kolek @InesKaP4F is an organiser of the annual international festival ‘Passion for Freedom’. She describes the ordeal of this afternoon:
I was invited to Lars Vilks committee in Copenhagen to present Passion for Freedom London Art Festival. The committee is organized annually and happens on the anniversary of Salman Rushdie’s fatwa. The meeting started with a short introduction from one of the organizers followed by François Zimeray, the French ambassador, commemorating Charlie Hebdo and discussing the challenges that we face when it comes to the threats to freedom of speech and democracy in our countries. 
After a short introduction, Inna Shevchenko @femeninna opened the panel and started to talk about Femen and her work. She also discussed her close friendship with Charb, the editor of Charlie Hebdo, and how they both stood strong exercising their right to freedom of expression. A few minutes into her speech we heard separate bangs. It sounded like crackers. Everyone was sitting and Inna was speaking as the bangs turned into a shower of bullets. 
It sounded like a machine gun. There was lots of shouting in Danish, the security shouted that Lars should evacuate, everyone started to run or hide. A few people remained sitting. I slid behind the stage to hide. After the shooting subdued everyone started to come together. We decided to continue with the presentation. I’ve presented PFF’s work and we took a few questions from the audience. Everyone thanked us that we continued. We will not surrender; they cannot kill all of us.




COPENHAGEN POLICE RELEASE DESCRIPTION OF THE SUSPECT

Police now say just there was just one gunman in the attack, disseminating photo of suspect. Other reports still speaking of two suspects.

The suspect is described as male, 25-30 years old, around 185cm tall, athletic build with an Arabic appearance but with lighter skin than normal and with black, slick hair. He was wearing a black or dark blue ski coat with matching pants and presumably gloves. He had covered the bottom part of his face all the way up to the eyes with a guerrilla scarf in yellow/orange and red. He had a black machine gun/machine rifle. Witnesses described it as 90-100cm long, completely black and plastic-looking.





THE MEDIA ARE ACCOMPLICES IN SILENCING SPEECH 

Don't expect any solidarity from the media in the struggle for the freedom of speech. It's all about how "controversial" these cartoonists are (a covered way of saying, it's all their own fault) and fear of "Islamophobia". It's remarkable how they seem to think they can hoodwink us in believing they've not joined the forces of evil when they're actually using their language!



Danish PM Helle Thorning-Schmidt says the #Copenhagen shooting is a terrorist attack and the whole country is on high alert


David Cameron said his thoughts were with the Danish people, tweeting: "I condemn the shootings in Copenhagen. Free speech must always be protected.





POLICE CONFIRM 2 TERRORISTS WORE BLACK, SPOKE DANISH

Copenhagen police confirmed to the Berlingske newspaper that the two suspects wore black and spoke Danish. The meeting was held under tight security, with delegates subject to searches as they entered the building.

The French prime minister, Manuel Valls, tweeted: "Freedom attacked in #Copenhagen. Solidarity with the Danes. @BCazeneuve (French interior minister) is going there. France does not yield. #JeSuisCharlie
