(VIDEO) COURT FINDS GEERT WILDERS GUILTY

In the Netherlands critics of Islam are being oppressed and even prosecuted. Truth is legally irrelevant. According to the Constitution offending a 'group' (in this case a nationality) constitutes 'discrimination'. Time for a repeat of the political trial against Geert Wilders until the judges get it right.

 UPDATE: The Court in the trial of Geert Wilders found him guilty of incitement of racial discrimination and offending a minority group. Something is very wrong with the law in the Netherlands. But that's a debate for Wilders himself in the political arena, a very hard thing to do for a politician who is himself continuously subject of investigations and indictment. Let alone the issue whether a politician must be able to call into question a large minority group that refuses to integrate into Western, free society. And apart from the problem of inequality before the law and the arbitrary application of the law, this just goes to show that the problem is much wider than the fundamental freedom of speech. It goes to the perception that justice is no longer being served and that the Dutch are disenfranchised in their own country.

There is one other very disturbing aspect to this case. The Judges particularly rebuked Wilders for calling their neutrality into question when he had said that the Court had already indicted him. According to the verdict that is "unbecoming for an elected politician." But to question a Judge's impartiality is a fundamental right! This reproach isn't political, or even legal. It is moral! The conclusion must be that a citizen can be indicted in the Netherlands, but invoking a fundamental right is a problem!

I just heard the penal sentence demanded by the Public Prosecutor: a penalty of 5,000 euros. Speaking about one of the biggest problems of our country – the problem with Moroccans – is now punishable, according to the elite. And, hence, we are slowly but surely losing our freedom of speech. Even asking a question is no longer allowed. Even though millions of people agree. And Moroccans have suddenly become a race. So if you say something about Moroccans, you are now a racist. Nobody understands that. It is utter madness. Only meant to shut you and me up. (More)

PROSECUTOR URGES FINE IN WILDERS TRIAL


According to the prosecution Wilders has intentionally insulted and incited discrimination of "a group". People apparently are cattle with no free will or capacity of independent thought. In a democracy the value of a person is determined by his personal choices, not by 'inherent morality'. This fallacy is the mother of racism. According to the prosecutor Wilders' punishment must contribute to the banning of all race discrimination. But you have to be a racist to come to that conclusion in the first place. The prosecution is more racist than Wilders ever was! Ruling is scheduled for Dec. 9.
Prosecutors asked a Dutch court Thursday to convict populist anti-Islam lawmaker Geert Wilders and fine him 5,000 euros ($5,360), saying he deliberately insulted and incited hate against Moroccans. In a video reaction posted online in Dutch and English, Wilders called the sentence demand "utter madness. Only meant to shut you and me up." The politically charged trial centers on comments that Wilders made before and after the Dutch municipal elections in 2014. At one meeting in a Hague cafe, he asked supporters whether they wanted more or fewer Moroccans in the Netherlands. That sparked a chant of "Fewer! Fewer! Fewer!" — to which he replied "we'll take care of it." Prosecutor Wouter Bos said the court should "send a clear signal that statements like these do not belong in the Netherlands."

GEERT WILDERS ASKS COURT FOR FAIR TRIAL


Wilders MP has requested the Court of The Hague for his human right to a fair trial and self defense be respected. He has submitted a list of witnesses and expert witnesses, but the Court has rejected them all. Geert Wilders has said on earlier occasions he doesn't believe his right to a fair trial will be honored.
