(VIDEO) NIGEL FARAGE RETURNS TO CAMPAIGN FOR BREXIT

Nigel Farage joins Tory Brexit group, vows return to front line politics to attack Theresa May's 'fraudulent' Chequers plan. Nigel Farage has launched a blistering attack on UK's 'lying political classes'. The former UKIP leader vowed to 'teach them a lesson that they will never forget'. Farage will go on the road to attack Theresa May's 'cowardly' Brexit plan. He added that Brexiteers are being smeared as stupid and ignorant people (more).

BORIS BURKA ROW HIDES TORY LEADERSHIP CHALLENGE

The current row over Boris Johnson having benignly likened the burka to a letterbox or bankrobber outfit goes much deeper than one would expect at first glance. British politics can be quite Byzantine. According to some commentators it's an exercise to prevent him from launching a leadership contest against Theresa "Sharia" May. It makes sense. Rowan Atkinson approaches the row joke technically: He wrote: "As a lifelong beneficiary of the freedom to make jokes about religion, I do think Boris Johnson's joke about wearers of the burka resembling letterboxes is a pretty good one. "All jokes about religion cause offence, so it's pointless apologising for them. "You should only really apologise for a bad joke." (More) But there's more at stake when a major political party is bowing for anti-liberal religionists. It's surrendering basic values to dictators! Maggy Thatcher cries...That is the real damage to the Tory Party that probably can never be undone.

BREAKING NEWS: BORIS JOHNSON RESIGNS

Boris Johnson quits as Foreign Secretary over Brexit hours after David Davis in killer blow to May The Prime Minister could now face a leadership challenge from Leave-backing MPs furious at the soft Brexit plan agreed by the Cabinet at Chequers. Theresa May's grip on power was hanging in the balance this afternoon after Boris Johnson resigned as Foreign Secretary just hours after she lost Brexit Secretary David Davis. The two big beasts both walked out of the Cabinet in protest at the PM's plans to force through a soft Brexit. Mr Davis warned this morning that Mrs May is pursuing a "dangerous strategy" in talks with Brussels - but insisted he's not trying to force the PM out of power.  But the resignation of Mr Johnson as Foreign Secretary could deliver a death blow to Mrs May's struggling Government, with MPs lining up to launch an official leadership challenge to the Prime Minister. The double blow - coming after Mrs May thought she'd managed to unite the Cabinet around her Brexit strategy - is the biggest threat to the PM since she took power. (...) MAY GOVERNMENT BETRAYS BREXIT

The Tory May Government has proposed a Brexit deal that has incensed Brexiteers. Euro Guido has the key 12 points.

The Cabinet has backed the softest form of Brexit, with the UK becoming a rule-taker on goods and agri-foods and facing severe consequences if we ever attempt to diverge on anything. They have also backed Number 10’s rebadged customs plan. Despite vows from David Davis and other Cabinet Brexiters to fight Theresa May’s Brexit proposal, it appears tonight that they have conceded on every point and that Downing Street has succeeded in forcing through an ultra-soft Brexit as the agreed government policy. (VIDEO) EU WINS BREXIT DEAL

The United Kingdom will agree to follow all European Union rules after Brexit and keep the nation’s borders open for the duration of the transition period to 2022, with further bad news for fisheries and communities in Northern Ireland as a new agreement was reached in Brussels Monday. The European Union’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier made the announcement in a joint press conference with Britain’s David Davis in Brussels, where the pair presented what was introduced as a “legal text which constitutes a decisive step” towards a final agreement. Revealing the enormous extent to which Theresa May’s government has sold out the Brexit-voting British public, Barnier and Davis spoke on a number of key policy areas including immigration, British control over British laws, and regaining control over British fishing waters. THERESA MAY TO FORM MINORITY GOVERNMENT

Theresa May will form a minority Government to deliver Brexit in the wake of a disastrous election night for the Conservatives which left the UK with a hung parliament. Mrs May failed to secure the 326 seats she needed to form another majority government and will now seek to stay in power with the informal backing of the Democratic Unionist Party. Speaking in Downing Street after outlining her intentions to the Queen at Buckingham Palace the Prime Minister said: "What the country needs more than ever is certainty and having secured the largest number of votes and the greatest number of seats in the General Election it is clear that only the Conservative and Unionist Party has the legitimacy and ability to provide that certainty by commanding a majority in the House of Commons." HANNAN: "JUNCKER WANTS BREXIT TALKS TO FAIL"

According to Dan Hannan the EU wants Brexit negotiations to fail. Possibly and probably. To one looking at a stat on EU absolute contributions per country and per capita, the EU has all the looks of an extortion racket. The British negotiator David Davis is not going to take it.

David Davis flatly dismissed Brussels demands for a £92billion (€100billion) divorce bill today after it emerged Germany, France and Poland had ganged up to inflate the sum.  EU negotiators have doubled the charge the UK was thought to be facing in order to cover farm subsidies and plug the giant hole in its budget up until 2020. The numbers have rocketed in part because they are trying to deny the UK a share of billions of pounds of assets across the continent - such as buildings.
Chief negotiator Michel Barnier ratcheted up the pressure again today by warning there would be 'explosive' consequences if Britain does not agree to pay up. He said talks on a trade deal will not start until the principles of the divorce are settled. But the Brexit Secretary gave the new figure short shrift this morning, warning that the British people have not been 'impressed' with Brussels' manoeuvring over recent weeks. 'We will not be paying €100billion,' he told ITV. 'What we've got to do is discuss in detail what the rights and obligations are.'  (More)

UK PM THERESA MAY IS "DELUDED" ON BREXIT

European Commission president Jean Paul Juncker said British prime minister Theresa May was "on another galaxy" and "deluded" about Brexit after the two parties had dinner last Wednesday at Downing Street, German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung (FAS) reports. A U.K. government spokesperson on Monday said the British government did not recognize the account of the meeting, according to the Reuters news agency. "As the Prime Minister and Jean-Claude Juncker made clear, this was a constructive meeting ahead of the negotiations formally getting underway," the statement said. European Commission sources leaked information of the dinner to FAS, according to the Telegraph newspaper. The article claims May said she believes the U.K. is not legally obligated to pay anything to the E.U. under existing treaties, despite the body's assertion that Britain would owe up to 50 million GBP to fulfill its obligations to the block upon its exit.

E.U. representatives also reportedly said May's desire for an early deal on E.U. migrants would not be feasible before June, which was her suggested timeline, and that it would be impossible for the talks to remain confidential. The article in FAS was published in full only in print, and there is no English language version available. When E.U. parties suggested the U.K. could be a "third state" and excluded from the customs union, May reportedly appeared surprised. As May laid out her plans, Juncker reportedly said, "The more I hear, the more skeptical I become," and that "Brexit cannot be a success." Berlin bureau chief for The Economist, Jeremy Cliffe, summarized the report, which he called "absolutely damning," in a series of tweets. (More)

MAY SEEKS STRONG #BREXIT MANDATE IN ELECTION

Raheem Kassam is clarifying that PM May wants a mandate for her own manifesto and policies rather than one she inherited from David Cameron. She wants a mandate for Brexit negotiations, which may be watered down if she runs on and wins on that basis. Labour were about to change their party rules and oust unpopular socialist leader Corbyn. So May is securing her 5 years while she can now. The Conservatives will likely increase their majority, although they may lose some seats to Lib Dems in the South West too. This could be PM's way of avoiding special elections as cops investigate up to 20 MPs who allegedly broke speaking rules in 2015. UKIP will struggle to find relevance. They got 3.9m votes in 2015 but my sources say they're looking at 1.5-2m this time.

Britain to go to the polls in just seven weeks as Theresa May stuns Westminster by calling a snap election so she can 'get the job done' on Brexit after having a 'moment of clarity' in Snowdonia holiday
  • Prime Minster announced she wants an election to ensure 'strong leadership' in the Brexit negotiations ahead
  • May must win a vote in the Commons tomorrow night but this is a formality as Corbyn has said he will back it
  • The PM made the announcement of a June 8 poll after a Cabinet meeting of her top ministers in No 10 today
  • Corbyn said Labour would offer the country an 'effective alternative' that was a 'credible choice' for Britain (More)

(VIDEO) FARAGE: EU ACTING LIKE THE MAFIA

Nigel Farage accused the EU of acting like the Mafia in a heated debate in the European Parliament which saw MEPs vote in favour of taking a tough line on Brexit negotiations. MEPs approved negotiators taking a tought line during Brexit talks, by a margin of 560-133, following the two hour debate in Strasbourg. The European Parliament insisted Britain must meet all its financial obligations and rejected any "cherry-picking" of privileged access to the single market for sectors of the UK economy such as financial services. (...) Responding to Nigel Farage’s description of the financial demand, estimated at around £50 billion, as "a kind of ransom payment", Mr Barnier said: "In fact, Mr Farage, all we are doing is settling the accounts. No more and no less." MEPs also rejected Theresa May’s calls for parallel divorce and trade talks. (More)

EU is the cause of peace in Europe

A Spanish gunship has made an illegal incursion into British waters off Gibraltar amid rising Brexit tensions over the territory. Gibraltar's government said the ship entered territorial waters on Tuesday. A Foreign Office spokesman said: "The Royal Navy challenges all unlawful maritime incursions into British Gibraltar Territorial Waters - and did so again on this occasion." But a spokesman for Spain's foreign ministry denied the claim, saying the ship was in fact in Spain's own territorial waters. It comes a day after Spanish foreign minister Alfonso Dastis told the UK not to "lose tempers" after the EU Brexit negotiation guidelines effectively gave Spain significant power over Gibraltar's future. At the weekend, former Conservative leader Lord Howard told Sky News Theresa May could be willing to defend the British territory, as Margaret Thatcher did over the Falklands. (More)

#BREXIT IS OFFICIAL: WHAT'S NEXT?

Mar 30, 2017 Infowars: What happens now that BREXIT has officially started?

CapX thinktank has been enacting a debate to figure out what negotiating techniques and techniques would hurt the UK most for escaping the EU collective. The UK must suffer, so that voters in other rebel countries will think twice before declaring independence. The enemy of individual rights, democracy and national sovereignty is plotting amongst us, undermining us from within.
The countdown has started. Now the real arguing begins – but what can both sides expect? And how to gain the advantage? At the Blavatnik School of Government in Oxford, we gave our students the opportunity to simulate the process of the Brexit negotiations in the compressed space of two days. Any such exercise necessarily imposes simplifications, but it has pointed to a number of negotiating dynamics we are likely to observe as the real talks unfold. (More

Nine months after Britain voted to leave the European Union, Prime Minister Theresa May is planning to open divorce proceedings on March 29. The negotiations could turn “vicious,” according to Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny. LORDS VOTE FOR REFERENDUM ON FINAL BREXIT DEAL

Last night the House of Lords voted to have a “meaningful” vote on the final Brexit deal secured by the Government, the pound tumbled. Britain’s currency had already been falling against the dollar as the continued uncertainty over the triggering of Article 50 affects growth. Theresa May has just 23 days before a deadline looms that will give the European Parliament an opportunity to prevent the UK from leaving the European Union. New rules which say 14 member states have to agree to Britain leaving will come into force on April 1. Delays which push the triggering of Article 50 into April, such as the Lords intervention, could be disastrous for the economy as it will signal greater uncertainty. (...) More than 117,000 people have signed a petition for the House of Lords to be completely reformed. They are calling for the Lords to be replaced with an elected membership system as costs hit £100million every year. (More)

TONY BLAIR CALLING FOR OVERTHROW OF BREXIT

The former PM Tony Blair has come crawling out of the woodwork calling in no uncertain terms for the overthrow of the referendum. That's how globalists deal with democracy: overrule it by mob force or some other means of moving the goal posts.

(SPEECH) THERESA MAY PROMISES FULL #BREXIT

(...) the prime minister promised to push for the "freest possible trade" with European countries and to sign new deals with others around the world. She also announced Parliament would get to vote on the final deal agreed between the UK and the EU. (...) the UK's priorities for Brexit negotiations, including:
  • Maintaining the common travel area between the UK and Irish Republic
  • Tariff-free trade with the EU
  • A customs agreement with the EU
  • New trade agreements with countries outside the EU
  • Continued "practical" sharing of intelligence and policing information
  • "Control" of immigration rights for EU citizens in the UK and UK citizens in the EU
  • A "phased approach"
Mrs May said there would not be a "blow-by-blow" account of negotiations, set to get under way after Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty is invoked by the end of March. It was not her intention to "undermine" the EU or the single market, she added, but she warned against a "punitive" reaction to Brexit, as it would bring "calamitous self-harm for the countries of Europe and it would not be the act of a friend". She added: "I am equally clear that no deal for Britain is better than a bad deal for Britain." (More)

EU NEGOTIATOR: 3 STEPS TO #BREXIT

European officials are working on a three-step model to smooth Britain’s exit from the European Union, including arrangements for a time-limited transition deal. The EU’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier has won broad agreement from the other 27 countries, plus MEPs, for his three-phase divorce plan, according to senior diplomats and officials. It would consist of withdrawal, transition and then a “new relationship.” The transition phase would be subject to a number of “sunset clauses” to ensure that Britain doesn’t retain the benefits of membership indefinitely, while the shape of the new relationship would be sketched out by Theresa May in her Article 50 divorce letter due by the end of March. In a speech to EU leaders over lunch at a summit in Brussels on Thursday, the outgoing president of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, voiced his support: “The three-phase model that the Commission has chosen to base its work on is indeed the right one.”(More)

HOUSE OF COMMONS AFFIRMS #BREXIT

Last night's resounding 372 Commons majority calling on ministers to trigger Brexit before the end of March must surely put the matter beyond doubt. Indeed, it would be perverse in the extreme if the Supreme Court were now to rule that the timing of withdrawal must go back to Parliament, giving die-hard Bremoaner MPs and unelected peers a chance to sabotage a policy backed by 17.4million voters. As the court's president Lord Neuberger put it before last night's vote, with studied understatement: 'It would be a bit surprising if the Referendum Act and referendum had no effect in law.' Acutely, he added that the average person would think it 'a bit odd' if his court ruled that an Act of Parliament was needed to trigger Brexit, after both Houses had, in his own words, 'ceded authority to the people'. Fingers crossed, his fellow judges may yet come to the same conclusion. Indeed, the real mystery is how 89 MPs had the appalling arrogance to dismiss the public's verdict by voting against the Government last night. (More)

"THE #BREXIT BETRAYAL"

(...) In a comment piece for the Daily Telegraph, Mr Farage hit out at recent suggestions the Government could attempt to forge a Norway-style future relationship with the EU and retain close ties with Brussels under a so-called 'soft Brexit'. Last week, Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson was forced to deny reports he had privately told EU ambassadors he is in favour of retaining Brussels’ freedom of movement rules. Brexit Secretary David Davis also admitted to MPs the Government is considering continuing to pay into the EU budget in return for preferable access to the bloc’s Single Market, which the Prime Minister has yet to confirm if Britain will leaving in order to end the power of EU judges and allow controls on EU migration. Mr Farage claimed “frustration is moving towards anger” among Brexit voters as he accused Mrs May of “failing in her duty” to deliver the EU referendum result and urged her to “get a grip” on Britain’s EU exit. FORGET ART. 50, QUIT NOW!

Ingrid Detter de Frankopan said Theresa May and her Brexit ministers were wasting time getting bogged down on Article 50 details - and claimed the UK could leave the 28-country bloc today if it wanted to. The veteran Swedish lawyer told MoneyWeek she was becoming increasingly frustrated at the unnecessary delays in formalising Britain’s European divorce. She said: “Despite my best attempts, everyone has been deaf to the painstakingly simple course for the United Kingdom to take: don’t trigger Article 50 at all. “Second rate lawyers are misleading everyone in the country by insisting that, in order to leave the European Union it is essential to 'trigger' Article 50 in its entirety. "This line has been swallowed whole by the Government, the media and commentators. “It is, however, absolute nonsense.” She claimed Article 50 itself made no mention of the requirement to trigger it to leave, and said the technical aspects could be interpreted by the country’s own constitution.

Ms de Frankopan said: “Since the United Kingdom is singularly fortunate in this situation that there is no written constitution, the UK is clearly free to act in any way it sees fit and proper. “It is important to stress that there is no need for any agreement at all with the EU.” She said the UK held all the power in exit negotiations and claimed Brussels was attempting to bluff its way to a good deal.   She said: “Immediately after the UK referendum on 23 June 2016, the president of the European Parliament, Martin Schultz, insisted, the UK government should contact the EU by Tuesday 28 June to indicate its intention to leave. “Why this haste? I should have thought the EU would be pleased to receive a massive sum every week from the UK. “The EU needs the UK far more than the UK needs the EU and we have nothing to gain from ‘discussion’ or further ‘agreements’ – unless such agreements are with non-EU states such as the United States, India, Brazil and China. There is the future." (Source)

UK COURT ATTACKS POPULAR REFERENDUM

Nov 3, 2016 Nigel Farage reaction on UK High Court ruling about Trigger of Article 50.

If PM Theresa May had invoked Art. 50 -- the process to divorce the EU -- at once, this entire law suit might have been avoided. The Courts are supposed to be a function of the People (hence, a jury of our peers). Parliament is also representative of the People and is therefore secondary. A direct democracy tool like a referendum therefore should outweigh Parliament and the Courts. Not so, says an unelected Judge. This is an attack on democracy.

A hairdresser, a plumber and a former model-turned-philanthropist were behind the lawsuit that upended the British government's plans for leaving the European Union, known as Brexit. Britain's High Court ruled Thursday, agreeing with them that Parliament gets a say in Brexit and that Prime Minister Theresa May can't trigger the process on her own. The lawsuit came after the June 23 referendum in which a majority of voters in the United Kingdom supported leaving the 28-nation EU. It was filed by hairdresser Deir Dos Santos, plumber Charlie Mullins, and Gina Miller, an investment manager and philanthropist. They were backed by three London law firms and a crowdfunding effort. The 52%-48% vote pitted Britons worried about immigration and EU regulations and favored "Leave" against voters who preferred to "Remain" in the EU. (...) The government, led by new Prime Minister Theresa May, said it would appeal Thursday's ruling to the Supreme Court. (Source)

FARAGE: GUY VERHOFSTADT HIGH PRIEST OF EU NATIONALISM

Sep 14, 2016 Nigel Farage: EU high priest appointment for Brexit negotiations a declaration of war.

The outgoing UKIP leader said Guy Verhofstadt was "anti-British to the core" and accused Brussels chiefs of deliberately stoking tensions with his controversial appointment. The former Belgian PM, who is a self-avowed and committed European federalist, will represent the EU Parliament during what are likely to be fraught Brexit talks. Last night he reiterated his hardline position that the UK cannot have access to the single market without accepting freedom of movement, and also called for Brexit to be delivered "before 2019", meaning Article 50 would need to be triggered this year. Prime Minister Theresa May has already ruled out starting formal divorce proceedings with Brussels until at least next year, saying the Government needs time to formulate its negotiating strategy. And speaking at the EU parliament in Strasbourg today Mr Farage described the appointment of the high-profile Belgian as a "declaration of war" on post-Brexit Britain. (...) EU APPOINTMENT OF BREXIT NEGOTIATOR 'AN ACT OF WAR'

According to Euro Guido the eurocrats have given Britain a declaration of war by appointing Michel Barnier, "an ultra-interventionist, dirigiste Frenchman with a history of bashing Britain and getting into fights with UK governments. This FT article from 2011 gives a taste of what he is like:
“Sir Mervyn King is not known as a man given to shouting. But during a meeting this summer in the genteel surroundings of London’s Threadneedle Street, the Bank of England governor let fly. The visitor sitting across from him was threatening to rein in the governor’s new powers to set capital rules for Britain’s banks. Sir Mervyn was having none of it. As his voice rose, his interpreter grew increasingly startled – particularly as the Frenchman refused to back down. An hour later, Sir Mervyn’s hands were still shaking when he sat down for lunch with George Osborne, the chancellor of the exchequer.” When barmy Barnier was appointed to his role as EU financial services chief, Nicolas Sarkozy boasted that France had achieved a victory over “Anglo-Saxon capitalism”. In 2009 Gordon Brown flipped out when Sarkozy said Barnier’s appointment meant Britain were “big losers”. In 2010 the Telegraph described him as “the most dangerous man in Europe”. In 2013 Barnier told Britain to accept punitive regulation of the City or leave the EU. This appointment is a an act of war…

MASS DEFECTIONS OF TORY MEMBERS TO UKIP

Theresa May will be Britain’s next prime minister on Wednesday evening after Andrea Leadsom dropped out of the leadership race. May was confirmed leader with immediate effect about 5 minutes after Leadsom caved. In the meantime there are reports of mass defections from the Conservative party to the UK Independence Party which is leaderless after Nigel Farage announced stepping down. Let's draft him out of retirement!

(...) long-term Tory voters and members are proverbially tearing up their membership cards and joining the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) en masse. Life-long Tory voters were cancelling their membership to the Conservative Party to join UKIP almost immediately after Mrs. Leadsom’s announcement.

LEADSOM HANDS TORY LEADERSHIP TO MAY

Leadsom drops out of the Tory leadership race, because she can't handle the abuse. Some second coming of Margaret Thatcher! She caves at the first opportunity. Gove could have run, but she prevented that. No sooner had Andrea declared her moral defeat, or the party lifts Theresa May in the saddle (tweet has been deleted). Well played! It was a fair contest, some say, but this goes to show that many British still have not woken up to the new reality. War has been declared on us a long time ago. If you don't wisen up real soon, you can kiss your country goodbye: it's high noon! Better get out the emergency plan. What, there isn't one?

FARAGE EXPLAINS WHY HE QUIT

Nigel Farage has been explaining on a radio show why he decided to step down as leader of UKIP. Much the same reason why the 'outsider' candidate for the Tory leadership, Andrea Leadsom is getting so much abuse. One could argue that thorough scrutiny of her resume is legitimate. But a personal statement extracted by a reporter and lifted from its context, distorted to the effect that women with children are somehow better humans than those without, is a horrible example of the intellectual dishonesty that passes for critique these days on both sides of the aisle.

July 7, 2016

MAY VERSUS LEADSOM

Runner up and Brexiteer, Andrea Leadsom has made it to the final round. (...) The winner of the parliamentary vote is Remainer, Theresa May. Tim Stanley on The Telegraph is trying to compare the British situation to the US: establishment versus the people's choice, globalism versus patriotism.

Theresa May is hardly a sopping Leftie. She defined her tenure as Home Secretary as being tough on terrorists and foreign-born criminals, and the suggestion that she might use EU citizens as a bargaining chip in Brexit negotiations speaks to how ruthless she can be. But May was also the one who called the Tories the “nasty party”. Her instincts are socially liberal; she did not campaign for Brexit. She insists that she will make Brexit happen but, it is implied, will do so in a way that holds the parliamentary Tory party together and, therefore, contains the seeds of compromise. As May is so way out in front in terms of MP support, Leadsom is defined against this pitch. She is playing Donald Trump to May's Jeb Bush. The Left will call her the Tory Taliban, if only because she goes to church. Look at her supporters: John Redwood, Andrew Rosindell, Iain Duncan Smith. (...) What we’re seeing here is the re-emergence of Tory traditionalism. From the point-of-view of the Tory Right, the chance to take control of the party leadership while in the middle of government is Christmas come early. They tried winning the country over while in opposition – recall Hague and Duncan Smith’s disastrous leaderships – but to do so while in power gives them an opportunity to, frankly, bypass the electorate and trial their agenda in office. That way they can prove that it works and, hopefully, build a new electoral coalition in time for 2020.

VOTE FOR 2 FINAL CONTENDERS

Conservative lawmakers in Britain are voting Thursday to decide which two candidates should face a runoff to be the country's next prime minister. Members of Parliament are voting on three legislators — Home Secretary Theresa May, Justice Secretary Michael Gove and Energy Minister Andrew Leadsom. May had a big lead after a first round of voting on Tuesday that saw the field winnowed from five to three. Results of the latest round will be announced Thursday afternoon. The candidate with the least support will be eliminated and the other two will campaign around the country to win the votes of 150,000 party members. The result of the party ballot will be announced Sept. 9. The winner will replace Prime Minister David Cameron, who announced his resignation after Britain voted last month to leave the European Union. The new leader will be responsible for leading Britain's exit negotiations with the EU. Leadsom and Gove, who both backed the "leave" campaign in the referendum, say the prime minister should be someone who truly believes in a British exit, or Brexit. In a speech to supporters Thursday, 53-year-old Leadsom promised Britain could retain continued free trade with the EU while simultaneously controlling immigration — an unrealistic prospect, according to critics. MAY 1ST PLACE, LEADSOM RUNNER UP

The result of the vote in the Conservative Parliamentary Party is as follows: Theresa May: 165 votes (>50%). Andrea Leadsom: 66, Michael Gove: 48, Stephen Crabb: 34. Liam Fox is eliminated: 16 votes. Raheem Kassam (Breitbart) is encouraging UKIP to replace the Conservatives as the party for the Right. The Tories -- like their European and American cousins -- have become the party of the weak establishment that everyone with a moral compass has come to despise. In the US politicians of this mindset are known as RINOs.

(...) This is a time for UKIP to do what the establishment has done to the country for the last 43 years (at least): punish it, whip it, smack it around and make it call you “daddy”. Because it is quite simple: we have the momentum. And the second we give up that ground in order to “seek consensus”, we will once again be on the back foot. You know it has already been happening. All this talk about if Article 50 will ever happen at all? The law firms supposedly launching legal bids against Brexit. The fact that the media has been trying to portray Brexit as some kind of xenophobic “genie in a bottle”. It is all designed to fatigue us, and the likes of Douglas Carswell, Suzanne Evans, and some others will kowtow to their Westminster buddies because they like “consensus”.

TORY RIVALS UNITE PRIOR TO 1ST BALLOT

We're not going debate the morons anymore we saw yesterday protesting in the streets of London. We've actually managed to produce an entire generation with the minds of state slaves. What to think of this pulling of the heart strings: "EU are my sunshine". This borders pure, old-fashioned, animistic EU Nationalism. Liberty is an unknown value to these idiotic kids. Tomorrow's a big day: the first ballot is held by the Parliamentary Party. Nigel Farage of UKIP is standing down as party leader. We're all deeply indebted to him for changing the course of history. He says he will be available to help other exit movements on the continent. Here's the main news on the Brexit front.

TORY PARTY AT WAR WITH THE VOTERS

What is happening in the UK is fairly typical of what's happening in many countries: a huge gap between the establishment and the people. This is also true for the UK. As popular polls show a clear preference for an outsider (Leadsom), the establishment is hell bent on force feeding its own choice (May). The procedure for the election of a Tory leader is Byzantine to say the least. The timeline is as follows:
  • 5 July 2016 – The first ballot is held by the Parliamentary Party.
  • 7 July 2016 – A second ballot, if required, is held. Should further ballots be required, they will take place on alternate Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • 8 September 2016 – Closing date for the postal ballot.

LEADSOM TAKES LEAD IN POPULAR VOTE

Andrea Leadsom is emerging in the favorite of the popular vote. This is however not a normal race for the leadership of the Conservative Party. The winner may well be the PM on whom rests the historical task of steering the UK to independence and negotiate a favorable exit deal with the eurocrats. In short, what we are looking for is the classical figure of the statesman. It is lamentable that Boris Johnson buckled under the pressure, as he was probably the only man who had it in him. But the very fact that he caved, disqualifies him for the task. What we need is a miracle.

BATTLE IS JOINED FOR TORY LEADERSHIP

Jun 28, 2016 Christiane Amanpour asks British MEP Daniel Hannan if the "Leave" campaign has a Brexit plan following the EU referendum vote.

In the video above we enjoy Dan Hannan taking down CNN's Amanpour as she tries to project the media's straw man of racism and islamophobia on the Brexit campaign. It's not an interview, but an inquisition. After BoJo dropped out of the race for Tory leader in a Shakespearean drama Brexiteers are in an awkward position. The choice is between establishment Remain politician Theresa May, new kid on the block (more or less) with a history as an environment secretary, Andrea Leadsom, and pershaps the best choice but far from ideal, Michael Gove. Not every country is blessed with a Trumpkin. Piers Morgan has written a beautiful piece on Bojo.

BORIS JOHNSON NOT RUNNING FOR TORY LEADER

Jun 30, 2016 Boris Johnson says he will not run for the leadership of the Conservative party.

BoJo is out. It is indeed doubtful if the dubonair intellectual would be the man to withstand the tsunami of hatred the Globalist camp will unleash in the coming months. Theresa May campaigned for Remain. She has declared to have accepted Brexit. But May as a member of the establishment, can't be trusted. Michael Gove and Andrea Leadsom are better contenders.

BRITSH POLICS FOR DUMMIES

Breitbart has a comprehensive guide to the Tory and UKIP leadership. For good measure we include tweets and info on Labour trepidations whenever we find them.
The race to be Britain’s new Prime Minister is fully underway, with Boris Johnson, Andrea Leadsom, Liam Fox, Stephen Crabb, Theresa May, and Jeremy Hunt all believed to be taking part. Breitbart London has produced below, for right-wing Tories and UKIPers, a guide to who the “soundest” candidate is from our perspective. For the sake of Tory right-wingers, we’ve included Same-Sex Marriage and the Hunting Ban as measures of “soundness”. For the Kippers, free movement and Euroscepticism. (More)

DEBUNKING THE LIES AND HATE CAMPAIGN

It's time to debunk a few of the most persistent Globalist lies in the wake of Brexit. The myths these people are able to disseminate are exploiting the low information status of their followers, their inherent racism and their virtual ignorance of economics.

Myth number one is related to the plunge in the markets. Investors hate change and uncertainty. Behaving much like cattle, the first impulse is to sell. But emotions are not what drives markets on the long run. Actual asset value and realism settle price levels (apart of artificial bubbling, that is). After the initial shock, what we see is the gradual return to reality. While Capitalism is a unique and beautiful thing, it is freedom applied to economics. The EU is not running on Capitalism, but on corporatism. This is why Globalists over estimate the importance of markets. They should not be approached as a goal in itself, but as the result of Liberty. It's ironic to say the least that those protesting Brexit are defending banks and power, while attacking the democratic will of the people.

Closely related to the economics myth is a meme that originated in the comments section of The Guardian. The narrative is that running for new Tory leader is equal to a suicide mission because failure is guaranteed; the economic collapse of the country is implied as a given. Apparently this piece of Soviet class agit prop has gone viral. They can't help it. Lefitsts must manipulate and lie, as their ideology can never stand on it's own: it defies reality.

In the wake of Brexit many young people and students have been blaming white, old geezers for "destroying their future". Again a piece of untruth is taken as a given. These were the actual percentages per age group.

Yet another lie sows the impression that the country after Brexit is under a wave of racist and xenophobic attacks. While some hate crimes can't be excluded, it is highly unlikely there is a surge going on. How do we know? Because racism is at the core of the Globalist agenda. It is this ugly trait that the Globalists like to project on their opponents. In other words it's the result of their own straw man argument. One was caught yesterday with a smoking gun. While international centers of research and journalists are a part of this campaign, another epicenter was found of Facebook. There are probably many more.

FARAGE FEARS TORY SELL OUT

UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage has raised questions over Boris Johnson and leaders of the official Tory-led Vote Leave campaign, claiming that he believes they are “backsliding” over the referendum result. Mr. Farage implied the Tory figures are now siding with the Prime Minister to insist the UK should remain inside the free market with open borders forced upon it. “We voted to take back control of our country and its borders”, the UKIP leader asserted. “I am worried it is being used as a smokescreen to do a different kind of deal. I am nervous, more nervous than I was on Friday morning”, he told Channel 4 News. “I am beginning to hear noises, I am beginning to detect there may be some backsliding and I do not find that acceptable”, he said. Adding: “We can control immigration, all we need is a Conservative Party government with the will to do it. And to hear someone like Dan Hannan effectively selling out… worries me greatly”. (...)

FARAGE CALLING FOR TARIFF FREE DEAL

UKIP's Nigel Farage in a speech in Brussels this morning called for a tariff free deal between the UK and the EU, which is indeed the sensible thing to do. A tariff free deal between both parties would be a serious step in the advancement of Liberty. This is what free trade actually is. Not what Mrs Merkel is again calling for (tweet below): trade in exchange for interdependence is in fact destroying freedom The globalists just aren't getting it, do they? They can't help themselves using trade as a bargaining chip for the more power for the ruling class!

The eurocrats and their cheerleaders must answer one basic question:
Why is the centralization of power in the hands of a supranational elite, a good thing?
Probably they can't even answer this. But that is what Globalization in essence is about.

THE EURO MAFIA'S VENDETTA FOR BREXIT

Jun 25, 2016 Brexit: Aftermath | Paul Joseph Watson and Stefan Molyneux.

Like the mafia, the eurocrats intend to make an example of Britain. How dare they defect! They are scheming to detach Scotland from the United Kingdom. Never mind Scotland isn't an independent country! Wars have been fought over less. Guy Verhofstadt is one of the most dangerous of euro mafiosi. Socialist Scotland that largely voted to Remain, for its part is trying to block Brexit, another anti liberal effort that will probably fail.
This is going to hurt; they plan to make sure of it. The last thing the globalists want in their perfect little world of obedient servitude and dictates issued from the safety of anonymity and remoteness is another upstart thinking that they are more capable of running their own affairs. (...) France, Austria, Hungary, the Netherlands and Finland are seen as potentially the next shoes to drop. The elites can’t let their world come crashing down due to the proliferation of crazy ideas of self-rule and sovereignty. In less than a year France will hold their next presidential election. The current president, Francois Hollande invited his predecessor, Nicolas Sarkozy and a rising star in the ranks of the independence and freedom right, Marine Le Pen, to a discussion of how best to proceed following the Brexit vote. (...) While Hollande wants to impose costs on the UK for their audacity and to avoid the topic from becoming a primary issue in the upcoming campaign, it’s too late. Their imposition of overflowing hordes of savage invaders and the successful effort in Britain have now made that inevitable.

BORIS  "BOJO" JOHNSON ON BREXIT

The man who led the Leave vote, Boris "BoJo" Johnson who may well succeed David Cameron as leader of the Tories, penned an op-ed today in the Telegraph. He is obviously seeking to get the Remainders aboard the Liberty enterprise. It will be a tough job to get 48 percent of the country to move from the mindset of slaves to the mentality required by free men.
This EU referendum has been the most extraordinary political event of our lifetime. Never in our history have so many people been asked to decide a big question about the nation’s future. Never have so many thought so deeply, or wrestled so hard with their consciences, in an effort to come up with the right answer. It has been a gruelling campaign in which we have seen divisions between family and friends and colleagues – sometimes entirely amicable, sometimes, alas, less so. In the end, there was a clear result. More than 17 million people voted to leave the EU – more than have ever assented to any proposition in our democratic history. Some now cast doubt on their motives, or even on their understanding of what was at stake. (...) We should be incredibly proud and positive about the UK, and what it can now achieve. And we will achieve those things together, with all four nations united. We had one Scotland referendum in 2014, and I do not detect any real appetite to have another one soon; and it goes without saying that we are much better together in forging a new and better relationship with the EU – based on free trade and partnership, rather than a federal system.

NO REMORSE, NO "2ND REFERENDUM'

Britain Elects makes an end to the globalist lie that on the day after Brexit many Brexiters experienced "buyer's remorse". Or that they were just too stupid to understand the question put to them in the referendum. The lies and schemes emanating from the Remain camp don't stop with the results of the referendum. Prepare for more!

Another lie perpetrated by the globalists is the idea that once Britain (or any other country for that matter) leaves the EU, tariffs and other import duties will automatically ensue. But taxes are imposed by Governments. They are not an Act of God or a force of nature! So, if free countries are punished with these trade barriers, that is the choice of the country that imposes them. In other words, it is the choice of the EU to punish Britain or not. Given the vindictiveness of the middle managers in Brussels, such punishments would come as no great surprise.

Next in the hoax department comes a script in the second referendum that allows hoax signatures from activists residing in exotic places like the Vatican, North Korea and uninhabited Antarctica. Update: It now turns out to be a prank by 4Chan. 4Chan users were bragging about their prank online.
The BBC’s desperate shilling for Remain will come under increasing scrutiny as we exclusively reveal that the supposed ‘popular petition’ for a second referendum – wholly illegal and unworkable, and unprecedented in British history – is a prank by notorious sh*tposters 4 Chan. (more).
In the meantime the European Council has set up a special task force for the negotiations. The task force will be led by the Fleming Didier Seeuws, a man his colleagues describe as “a Belgian top diplomat”. Mr Seeuws has wide experience of the EU and was Herman Van Rompuy’s Chief of Staff while he was Chairman of the European Council. Mr Seeuws is currently the Director of Transport, Telecommunications and Energy at the European Council. (More)

(ANALYSIS) BREXIT: THE DAY AFTER

After Project Fear, it's Project Vengeance and Project Vote Till You Get It Right (LOL). Things are taking a turn for the worst, with erstwhile champions of the people within the space of a single year now turning against the people. Left and right Socialism are remarkably similar.
Is this page from The Guardian a joke or frighteningly serious? Very few seem to know!

Philosophically we're in deep doodoo. Ideas matter. The EU is a feudalist, Machiavellian enterprise with added moral cover to sooth the consciences of the altruists that preside over it: it's a statist order with a view to peace and equality, both phantom values as both are eventually leading to nihilism.

If Brexit would violate anyone's rights, criticism would have been justified. But that is not the case. The claim of the globalists that Brexit will be disastrous for the economy, remains to be seen. For all the fear mongering that is an analysis that can only be made on the longer term.

The globalists are not just statists; they're at heart collectivists and their collectives happen to be entire countries. Collectivists have a specific morality: loyalty to the group comes before anything else. Which explains their hostility to members of client groups that have the temerity to "wander off the reservation".

Like the mafia, they like to make examples of disloyal proteges. Hence Project Vengeance to make sure that other nations think twice before they follow suit. To these globalist managers the end justifies the means.

The world to them is an animal farm. The good is proper management of the estate, which their elite schools teach is called Good Governance. As long as the German and French cattle in their custody is treaty equally and are prevented from locking horns, no one has cause for outdated aspirations like Liberty or other such nonsense.

The idea that government is supposed to be in the service of the people or serve a higher, unifying cause like Liberty is anathema to these pragmatic middle managers.

It is however true that these values must come from the grassroots, from the people themselves. Even if injected top down it probably would not work anyway!

Brexit is just the start. We now need to work on the culture and further develop Liberty and other values that bind people together. Opponents who are having trouble with a democratic decision must learn to deal with it, or they don't belong in a democracy.

Globalists don't have to live with the consequences of their policies: mass immigration of hostile Muslims, a stagnant economy and shrinking wages. Their jobs and perks in bailed out institutions are secured in the globalist world.

Cronyism and State Capitalism is the economic model of the globalist world. To Socialists the EU may seem like Capitalism, this is emphatically not the case. Case it point:

Translation: you may think you are free, but you're not, because now you'll have to compete on the open market, whereas the EU gave you political influence and a secured market (whatever that may be).

ISIS is smelling blood in the water and is calling on their sleeper cells to attack Berlin and Brussels.

More of what happened today:

  • Brexit: Why The Globalists Lost

There’s panic in the skyscrapers. A popular revolution against globalism is underway, and Britain has struck the first blow. To the dismay of political, financial, and media elites, the country has chosen to put identity and sovereignty above a plus-one-or-minus-one change in GDP, and vote to leave the hated European Union. As with the USSR, the attempt to superimpose a manufactured civic identity over proud nation-states with rich and complex histories has run against the grain of human nature. The elites, so wrapped up in statecraft and economics, never paused to consider basic human psychology. (More)

GLOBALISTS: BREXIT IS A "TANTRUM"

Ruling Party versus Country Class: Brexit is a temper tantrum.

UPDATE: The UK will disentangle itself from the EU in a process that will take two years to complete. Anything bad that will happen in the meantime will be blamed on Brexit. Central issue of globalism is immigration. That explains why the race card is being played incessantly. None of the problems associated with immigration ever affects the elites and the ruling class. The EU is the poster child of cronyism. The globalists have created a caste system that only works in its own favor. As far as the ruling elite and their cheerleaders is concerned Brexit is a temper tantrum of the unwashed. (More) Speaking of temper tantrums, in the tweet below a measure of a tantrum thrown by the Safe Space generation of special Snowflakes feeling cheated out of their birth right by old angry white geezers.

DAWN OF A POPULIST UPRISING

June 24, 2016 Paul Joseph Watson on Infowars.

Brexit represents nothing less than a stunning populist revolt and a complete rejection of the political establishment.

EUROCRATS BRACING FOR EXIT CASCADE

Lecturing the people on so-called 'racism' and 'extremism' has done wonders thus far. Right wing parties have been rising in the polls all over the globe. It got Donald Trump the nomination of the Republican Party in the US and now we have Brexit. Not that the media will come to that conclusion. While the globalists are obviously racist for believing that race actually matters and supranational regimes are undeniably extreme in that they erase borders, national independence and democracy, its cheerleaders just continue to spout their slander at the voters. Latest exhibit, the Daily Mail analyzing the prospects for more EU dominoes to tumble..

Eurosceptic parties across continent will now demand their own OUT poll

AND IT'S ...#BREXIT!!!

Yesss, it's done. The British people have spoken. The problem is philosophical in many respects. For one thing, cooperation can only be done on a voluntary basis. Force the people into a merger they don't want through interdependence, sooner or later they will start to revolt. But that's just for starters.

#BREXIT CAMPAIGN TAKES 10 PERCENT POINT LEAD

The Prime Minister was blasted by angry audience member Yasmin Morrissey who said she hated the Tories and branded him “Dodgy Dave”. The politics student from Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, said: “I’m voting Remain but nothing to do with you guys. “I hate the Tories. I have just got to say you have f***** every f****** thing up in this country. “You have screwed students, you have screwed the disabled, the vulnerable. (...) Cameron suffered another blow just moments after the heated EU debate for Buzzfeed and Facebook users after a shock poll revealed the Brexit campaign had gained a 10-point lead. A survey by The Independent found 55 per cent of people believe the UK should leave the EU, while just 45 per cent wanted to stay. It is the latest poll in recent days to show the Brexit camp ahead as panic sets in Downing Street and the Remain campaign.

(VIDEO) THE KEY FACTS ABOUT

Soraya Bouazzaoui, an English Literature student at Southampton Solent University, pressed the Prime Minister over whether the UK should be working with Turkey and about the lack of positive campaigning by the Remain group, despite being a Remain voter herself. Speaking during the live Sky TV Debate on the EU referendum, the 22-year-old, who works as a part-time switchboard operator at her local hospital, accused Mr Cameron and the Stronger In group of "scaremongering" and running a "complete shambles" of a campaign. "The entire campaign has been a complete shambles .. I see nothing but scaremongering ... everything I've seen has just made voting into the EU look worse," she said. "We haven't even addressed the fact that Turkey wants to become ever closer union with the EU ... how can you reassure us of staying in the EU and say there are no risks when there are clear risks?"

BREXIT TAKES 4-5 PERCENT POINT LEAD

The campaign for Britain to leave the European Union has taken a 4-5 percentage point lead ahead of a June 23 referendum, according to online polls by ICM and YouGov, sending sterling toward three-week lows against the U.S. dollar. The swing toward "Out" with less than three weeks to go comes as both sides step up their campaigning to try to win over the large number of still undecided voters with warnings over the economy and immigration. The ICM poll of 1,741 people taken June 3-5 showed 48 percent would vote to leave, up from 47 percent a week earlier, while 43 percent would opt to stay, down 1 percentage point from a week earlier. The YouGov poll of 3,495 people on June 1-3 showed 45 percent would opt to leave the EU, up from 40 percent in a comparable poll a month earlier, while 41 percent would opt to stay, down from 42 percent. The poll showed 11 percent of voters were still undecided, down 2 percentage points from a month earlier.

DUTCH PM THREATENS UK WITH "WAR" AFTER #BREXIT

After the King of the Netherlands held a constitutionally illegal speech in the European Parliament against Brexit, it is today the turn of the Dutch PM to threaten first "war", then "retaliation" should the UK be so bold as to exercise its sovereignty after Brexit and adopt a points system for immigration. The episode illustrates very plainly, that ruling other people's countries has become common behavior in the EU. His arguments are typical for the irrational approach of the 'remain' camp. What have seafaring and free trade to do with a points system? "Race to the bottom" is even more enigmatic. It shows the desperation in the EU globalist camp that knows its days are counted.

Brexit, The Movie. (Mirror)

How we vote in the EU referendum will define how we live our lives. Do we want to live under a Europe-wide government, which few of us understand, run by people we don’t know, who have the power to impose on us laws that WE haven’t debated, and have little or no power to block or overturn? Is it safe to live under a government that we cannot hold to account? ... a government that feels under no obligation to work in our interests or to reflect our views? Is it safe to remain tied, economically, to a declining trade block, shut off from the rest of the world? Brexit: The Movie spells out the choice before us, and makes the case for an independent and self-governing Britain. (Website) @BrexitTheMovie #BrexitTheMovie #VoteLeave

JUDICIAL SYSTEM NEXT TARGET OF THE EU MONSTER

The EU behemoth that destroys every nation state in its path is continuing on the globalist path unabated. The next target on its crisis list is the judicial system. The eurocrats have set their sights on a European Public Prosecutor.
Plans to create a centralised EU prosecutor will fatally undermine our legal system and kill off the principles of trial by jury and ‘innocent until proven guilty’ which have been the fundamental rights of Britons since the Magna Carta. Express.co.uk has learned that a European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO), which would have sweeping powers to pursue British citizens, is expected to be up and running by the end of this year. Today Christopher Gill, president of The Freedom Association, warned that the relentless march towards a uniform European legal system based on continental law, which was rebuffed in the early 2000’s, will get back under way as soon as Britain votes to remain in the 28-nation bloc.

MAYOR OF LONDON SPARKS DEBATE ON BREXIT

Mayor of London Boris Johnson set the ‘Brexit’ debate aflame yesterday by declaring that he would be campaigning for ‘out’. But his words delivered outside home in North London were very carefully chosen. He nailed his colours to the establishment campaign ‘Vote Leave’ mast – now famed for advocating a “double referendum” and “criminal” tactics to circumvent spending rules. So it was not a surprise then, to hear from long-standing referendum campaigners that they are skeptical that Mr. Johnson’s is actually campaigning to leave the European Union. (...) Vote Leave Campaign Director Dominic Cummings has said that invoking Article 50 (A50) after Britain votes to leave “would be mad”. Brexit campaigners are furious, and are now claiming the “Vote Leave” group has no intention on Britain leaving the European Union:

SHOCKER! CAM ANNOUNCES DEAL!  BREXIT'S OFF

David Cameron said he would urge Britons to vote in favour of remaining in the EU in a referendum after winning Friday a package of controversial reforms to Britain's ties with the bloc. "This is enough for me to recommend that Britain remain in the European Union," Cameron said after marathon talks with EU leaders in Brussels. Cameron had said he would back a 'Yes' vote in a referendum -- now expected in June -- if he secured a "special status" in the 28-nation EU to curb immigration and safeguard its non-euro economy. European leaders finally sealed a deal on British Prime Minister David Cameron's reforms after hours of haggling at a marathon summit, paving the way for a referendum on whether Britain will stay in the EU.

Prime Minister David Cameron will hold ‘now or never’ talks on Thursday to keep Britain in the European Union, with the bloc’s 28 leaders suggesting there are only a few obstacles left to a new membership deal. With all sides underlining that there is still work to be done to reach agreement at an EU summit in Brussels, there is also broad consensus that if the bloc fails to agree, they may never come up with a deal to help keep Britain from leaving. CAMERON'S EU SCAM UNRAVELS

Tuesday was the day that Cam’s Scam finally unravelled. Britain’s Prime Minister, David Cameron, arrived in Brussels 30 minutes late. It may have worked out better for him if he hadn’t come at all. Expecting to be received like a returning hero, Mr. Cameron went from one bruising encounter to another and neither his deal, nor his ego, came out in one piece. One pasting that he did manage to squirm out of was meeting with UKIP leader and EFDD group leader Nigel Farage in front of other senior MEPs. Cameron bottled it; he knew Nigel would expose his pitiful deal and he turned chicken. The deal would have been ripped apart in an open Conference of Presidents and it would have become clear that even if he wins the referendum, the parliament can and will veto its terms. Nothing in this renegotiated package works for the British people. None of it will be enforceable; he is trying to sell the British people a pup and he was too scared of Nigel being able to expose that.

CAMERON PREPARING FOR EU REFORM SUMMIT

@Joe_Armitage end of this video the EP President says “will be accepted on Thursday. I mean, I hope.” Gave the game away… (Source)

David Cameron, is in Brussels on an attempt to persuade skeptical members of the European Parliament to back a package of reforms ahead of a key EU summit this week that will turn into a fight over social welfare issues. Cameron wants European leaders at the summit to accept reforms so he can call a June referendum on whether Britain should remain in the European Union. The British leader will hold talks today amid criticism that any reform package could be vetoed by lawmakers after the referendum because it will not be secured by a change in the EU treaty. The meetings come a day after Cameron traveled to Paris for talks with French President Francois Hollande. Cameron’s Downing Street office says the leaders agreed a draft of reforms “provides a firm basis to reach agreement at this week’s summit.” However, Hollande said there is work still to be done to secure a deal.

CAMERON'S BREXIN CAMP IS "LOSING THE PLOT"

David Cameron's letter setting out his ideas for reforming Britain’s relationship with EU has been sent to the president of the European Council. Tory MPs have termed the content "pretty thin gruel". Europe is watching the developments leading up to the British referendum and eventual Brexit, with baited breath.

Now that the Prime Minister has unveiled his demands – sorry, “objectives” – for EU reform as a condition of Britain retaining its membership, it might have been expected the great debate would have come alive and the In camp, in particular, would find itself re-energised. If anything, the opposite is the case. The dismay of Europhiles, or at any rate the more intelligent ones, is palpable. Of course Europhiles would much have preferred to have no referendum and no negotiations – just ever-closer union, on the model of an imploding neutron star. But since negotiations have been made inevitable by political circumstances, it was important to the In campaign that they should be conducted in a persuasive way, with a cosmetic appearance of tough bargaining, with Britain conceding some points and gaining others, so that the Prime Minister could credibly pronounce himself satisfied and lead a strong campaign against Brexit. Instead, the limp proposals he has put forward are so ineffectual as to brand him a Brussels poodle peddling sham negotiations to convince the British public.

CAMERON'S EU REFORM PLAN 'PRETTY THIN GRUEL'

Tory Eurosceptics reject David Cameron's EU reforms, while European Parliament president warns plan may be illegal. David Cameron has put restricting benefits for migrants at the heart of his demands for European Union reform as he kicked off a new phase in the renegotiation process. Setting out four "challenging" goals and insisting a new membership deal must be "legally binding", the Prime Minister said the UK should also be exempted from the commitment to "ever-closer union", get protection from eurozone integration and see improvements in competitiveness. The intervention, in a speech at the Chatham House think-tank, came as Mr Cameron sent a six-page letter to European Council president Donald Tusk spelling out his renegotiation checklist. In the letter, he said he hoped to to get an agreement at the "earliest possible opportunity" but the "priority is to get the substance right". Martin Schulz, the hugely powerful president of the European Parliament, says he thinks David Cameron's plan to restrict migrant benefits could be illegal. It is a major risk as the Parliament is needed to pass any treaty change or new legislation. (...) Eurosceptics Tory MPs rounded on the Prime Minister's reform plans. Jacob Rees-Mogg has described David Cameron's EU reform plans as "pretty thin gruel", saying that people expected much more. (Source)

CAMERON: "BREXIT RISKS NATIONAL SECURITY"

Video guide to In and Out Campaigns.

David Cameron will say in a speech on Tuesday that leaving the EU is 'not just a matter of jobs and trade but of the safety and security of our nation'. Leaving the European would risk Britain’s economic and national security. The comments risk being dismissed as scaremongering by Eurosceptics. In his Telegraph column today, Boris Johnson – the London Mayor who is tipped by some to want to lead the “out” campaign – warns against listening to those predicting disaster if Britain leaves the EU. Mr Johnson forecasts "torrents of drivel" from "Europhiles in Parliament" about the dangers of leaving the EU. The speech will kickstart the final stage of Mr Cameron’s attempts to reshape Britain’s relationship with Brussels ahead of an in/out referendum on the UK’s membership. Mr Cameron will also tomorrow to write a letter to Donald Tusk, the European Council President, setting out the areas of reform which Britain would like to see. In his speech Mr Cameron will say that the vote – which must be held within the next two years – will be “a huge decision for our country, perhaps the biggest we will make in our lifetimes”. Cameron will set out renegotiation detail in November.

BREXIT PROCESS KICKING OFF ON TUESDAY

Philip Hammond said the letter to Mr Tusk would set out Britain's argument for reform, but would not be "excessively prescriptive," in move which will infuriate Eurosceptics. Speaking to the BBC1's The Andrew Marr Show, he said: "We don't want to be excessively prescriptive at the beginning of the discussion. This letter is not the end of the process, it is the beginning of the process." He warned however that there would have to be "substantive legally-binding change" if the British public were to vote for it in the referendum. Mr Hammond also acknowledged that there would be "big challenges" for the UK if it did vote to leave and that the British people "will not be fobbed off with a set of cosmetic alterations to the way the EU works." He said: "If we were not in the EU we would have to find a different way of promoting our economy. It is not impossible but it would be challenging."

In a speech on Tuesday Mr Cameron will warn fellow EU leaders he has ruled "nothing out" and could support Brexit if the UK’s demands are not seriously considered. He will say: "If we can't reach such an agreement, and if Britain's concerns were to be met with a deaf ear, which I do not believe will happen, then we will have to think again about whether this European Union is right for us. "As I have said before - I rule nothing out. Those who believe we should stay in the EU at all costs need to explain why Britain should accept the status quo. I am clear that there are real problems with this."

There are a number of senior Conservative Cabinet ministers who have already privately given up hope that Mr Cameron will secure the radical changes they believe are necessary to improving Britain’s EU membership.
