Appointment of Juncker is Another Federalist Coup

A 14-page missive leaked to European media claimed the Luxemburg candidate for the EU Commission Presidency, Jean-Claude Juncker went on a five-minute alcoholic rant in 2007. The British press went as far as unearthing 'Nazi DNA'. The main problem however: Juncker is a statist and a closeted federalist

Until now, Europe's heads of govenment, the Council, have negotiated behind the scenes to come to consensus on a candidate - and then proposed his appointment to parliament. This time, the reverse was the case, for no apparent reason. As a result the role of the Commission is likely to change. Politically, the Commission is conceived of as an executive body. It has taken its cues from the European Council. But with Juncker's election, the continent's axis of power has tipped in favor of the parliament. "We have rewritten the rules of Europe's constitutional reality," EU parliamentarians are enthusing. We are moving from a Europe of independent nations to a unity state, called the United States of Europe. Evidently, Juncker's campaign wasn't a freak accident of nature, but another federalist coup: parliament proposed three utterly federalist candidates (Juncker, Verhofstadt and Schulz) and the only opposition - the heads of state - simply rolled over. And of course this coup will be presented as a 'victory for democracy in Europe'.

LIVE: NASA 'Flying Saucer' Test Launch in 3, 2, 1...

NASA will launch a saucer-shaped test vehicle holding equipment for landing large payloads on Mars. An inflatable decelerator and a parachute will be tested at high altitudes and speeds over the Pacific Missile Range today.

High winds over Hawaiin delayed the launch of a NASA saucer-shaped Mars landing test vehicle until tonight. The space agency was forced to scrub six launch attempts over the past two weeks — the latest and last planned for this Saturday (June 28) — as a result of unusually poor wind conditions at the U.S. Navy's Pacific Missile Range facility in Kauai, Hawaii.

Geert Wilders' Plan To Save Netherlands From Jihad

ISIS has called off a protest at the Embassy of Iraq in The Hague planned for tomorrow. But the reaction of the Government has not been reassuring. Parliamentarian Geert Wilders meanwhile is proposing measures to protect the country from returning Jihadists

The Wilders plan focuses primarily on Sunni Islam and its vanguard, the Jihadists of ISIS. But its counterpart and its patron, Iran is just as bad. How to tackle Iran is also begging for an answer. Strategically it's a different proposition.

President Obama thought trading a deserter for five top terrorists would be a PR coup. What does this tell us about our president as a person?
