Since taking power ten years ago, chairman Xi has massively overhauled China's military, economy, and political influence. China is ready to take on its leading role as global tyrant. Xi declared in his Davos January 2021 speech that he has the "Mandate of Heaven" for global rule. The January 6, 2021 insurrection on Capitol Hill turned out to be not a failure of intelligence, but a botched intelligence operation. As the campaign for the human rights of the political prisoners gained steam, the Justice Dept. indicted a number of Trump advisors for Contempt of Congress for refusing to appear before the House Select Committee. Three Trump advisors are claiming presidential privilege. Minority Leader McCarthy and Rep. Jim Jordan are refusing to cooperate.

UPDATE: The Inspector General for the Capitol Police opened a formal investigation into serious claims that Republican members of Congress were and are unlawfully surveilled by Capitol Police, potentially at the direction of Nancy Pelosi. Politico: "After the Jan. 6 insurrection, the Capitol Police Intelligence Unit quietly started scrutinizing the backgrounds of people who meet with lawmakers." Even Republican staffers were allegedly targeted with surveillance. Rep Nehls is accusing Capitol Police of spying on him. In his Feb. 8 show Tucker Carlson revealed that Rep. Loui Gohmert's mail is being tempered with.

China, that is the CCP, has an unspoken view that an economically weak but militarily aggressive Russia suits China best. Russia is no economic miracle like China and it has many fault lines. These both make China very happy, especially from the perspective of any danger from the north. This is why China-Russia relations look promising in the short to medium term. Not only is Western pressure on Ukraine pushing both countries together, but Russia’s military operations in Belarus and on Ukrainian border also draw attention away from Beijing.

JUST WAR THEORY: CATHOLICISM AND SELF DEFENSE

For the last century or so most wars waged by the West are fought under the Geneva Conventions, rooted in Just War Theory of Neo Platonist Church Father St. Augustine, who was rather big on original sin, self sacrifice and guilt culture. The theory tightly describes a number of conditions that justify going to war. But in practice this international law functions as a handicap to those sent into it to actually fight it, the soldiers.

MARCH FOR LIFE: HALF A MILLION KICKING OFF 2022 RALLY

The March for Life is an annual rally and march protesting both the practice and legality of abortion, held in Washington, D.C. on or around the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, a decision issued in 1973 by the United States Supreme Court legalizing abortion nationwide. This year the Justices are expected to reconsider their 1973 decision kicking abortion legislation back to the States.

Over half a million protesters are kicking off the 2022 March for Life from the National Mall to Capitol Hill. The march's stated mission is to end abortion by uniting, educating, and mobilizing pro-life people in the public square. The March is organized by the March for Life Education and Defense Fund.

UPDATE: Remember Catalonia's still born bid for independence back in 2017? Now there is a twist to this story! Former police chief José Manuel Villarejo has admitted that the CNI (the Spanish intelligence service) was behind the terror attack on the Ramblas in Barcelona in August of 2017 in order to deter Catalonians from voting for independence a month before the referendum. Sixteen people died in the attack.

The spiritual front in the Culture War is taking place where you would expect it: in the Churches. One historical perspective holds that the Western Church was doomed from the Great Schism of 1054 onwards. Protestantism eventually put paid to any spirituality in the Judeo-Christian project in the West. But today, with postmodern wokeness at the point of delivering the coup de grace, there is considerable blow back from a younger contingent of Conservative "Latin Mass" Catholics and Evangelicans.
