What is postmodernism, what is its history and why does it matter? This blog should answer most of these questions and explain what is the antidote to this particularly destructive school of thought. Check the Background section at the bottom of this page and the tab pages underneath the banner for more research and analyses.
UPDATE: Three intrepid academics perpetrated a giant version of the Sokal Hoax once again revealing the utter nonsense of Postmodern "science" (Wiki). They published a number of fake papers in major academic journals. The result is hilarious and delightful. Helen Pluckrose, James Lindsay and Peter Boghossian set out to show that ideology reigns supreme in what they call "Grievance Studies": academic areas organized around victim groups, and often more motivated by a political agenda than a serious search for the truth.

Guided by a real live postmodern example, taking the opportunity to explain one of the main fallacies of this anti-philosophy and why it has such a horrendous influence on academic thought. Take a moment to think about the implications of above red herring for our cognitive processes! You can count black and white swans into eternity, their color is not at all what makes a swam a swan! The concept of a swan is a bird. The essence of Einstein is man (person, human being), not "white man".
Postmodernists have a cognitive problem with identification. A matter of basic philosophy, as explained 300 years BC by Aristotle. What makes a thing what it is? Postmodernists say, well, it's color! How is that not inane racism? It is describing a thing by a non-essence. You might as well say, Einstein's nose (below the "concept" of nose by a non-essence).
Children by the age of 5 or 6 have a fair idea of concepts and conceptualization. Postmodernism isn't progress; it sets us back at least 2300 years in epistemological evolution and reverses our mental development to the age of a toddler. Take a short course in Aristotle’s Epistemology: Concepts, Explanation and the Nature of Science (HISTORY OF PHILOSOPHY / LESSON 14) (Take em all!).

If you have doubts about this enterpris - which makes sense since these fields of study do investigate very important topics, like race and gende- take a look at the papers they got published in leading journals. They are… quite something.— Yascha Mounk (@Yascha_Mounk) October 3, 2018

Something has gone wrong in the university—especially in certain fields within the humanities. Scholarship based less upon finding truth and more upon attending to social grievances has become firmly established, if not fully dominant, within these fields, and their scholars increasingly bully students, administrators, and other departments into adhering to their worldview. This worldview is not scientific, and it is not rigorous. For many, this problem has been growing increasingly obvious, but strong evidence has been lacking. For this reason, the three of us just spent a year working inside the scholarship we see as an intrinsic part of this problem. (More)

(POSTMODERNISM) THE ESSENCE OF EINSTEIN IS "WHITE MAN"
If I run around Australia saying 'Look! A black swan!! There is another black swan' and do so every a thousand days and conclude that all swans are black, I would be wrong. Counting 1 to ...N black swans is not a proof that all swans are black.— Jan (@JaniceSengupta) August 17, 2018

(VIDEO) JORDAN PETERSON ON THE EVIL OF POSTMODERNISM
April 15, 2017 Jordan Peterson On The Evil Of Postmodernism.
A belated video of Jordan Peterson on the evils of Postmodernism for those who have not yet figured out what pernicious anti-philosophy is governing our age. The primer was written some years ago by Stephen Hicks. You can find videos and audio material in the Background section at the bottom of this page and in the tab pages underneath the banner. One would ask, what is the antidote to this evil ideology? In the most basic form that would be anyone of the Aristotelian school, primarily Thomas of Aquinas and Ayn Rand's Objectivism: any treatise on philosophy that teaches the objectiveness of reality and morality.

(ANALYSIS) POSTMODERNISM
August 17, 2017 Jordan Peterson talks to Stephen Hicks, author of the compendium on Postmodernism.
Yesterday Jordan B Peterson spoke with Dr. Stephen Hicks, professor in the philosophy department at Rockford University. Dr. Hicks is the author of the influential and courageous 2004 book Explaining Postmodernism: Skepticism and Socialism from Rousseau to Foucault, which is perhaps even more relevant and important now than it was when it was published. They spoke in depth about the history of philosophy as it has developed since medieval times, trying to understand and describe the processes that led to the rise of postmodern theory.
The book itself can be purchased at Amazon. Dr. Hicks has also made it available in pdf form here. A useful review/overview, written by Dr. Steven Sanders, can be found here. Audiobook. For that and more on Postmodernism check out our About page.
